Default check valve bad?

My 05 with 35k miles keeps turning over after sitting but fires up on the second attempt. I had a 96 z28 that did this and the check valve had went bad in the fuel pump. Were there any tsb/recalls for bad pumps? I've got a little less than half a tank of gas if that makes a diff.

Check if you have pressure at the fuel rails; it could be a million other things than just a fuel pump... If you have pressure you could try disconnecting the MAF and see if that works... When a MAF goes bad some times the car won't start, but it will if you disconnect it.

What is the fuel pressure supposed to be while the car is cranking and what is the
Line
pressure suppose to be when you shut the car off?

The cranking problem has become intermittent. I checked the fuel pressure and its about 58 to 60 at idle, and when I shut it off it takes just over an hour to bleed all the way back to zero psi, but the car fires right back up first attempt from 0 psi. Since the cranking problem has become random Im not sure if in unplugging the maf it would have cranked or not. Besides just spraying some electrical contact cleaner on the maf, is there a voltage reading from the maf that i should be seeing? If it were the crank position sensor wouldnt it cause more problems than just on startup? Thanks for all your replies guys.

Ive searched this hard starting till my eyes are fried from the comp screen. Some posts have said that that it could be an o ring busted and bleeding fuel pressure, but it took my car just over and hour to totally bleed off to 0 and then it fired up first try...sooooo?wth? Was there a tsb somewhere about random cranking probs? It always starts the second attempt, but will cycle until it times out on the first.

If it was a bad crank sensor, the car would not even turn over, but a bad cam sensor can cause starting problems.
