Default adjusting toe

My mission for tomorrow is to adjust my front toe (I have to much toe out since about 1" of the inner side of both tires are getting worned down much faster than the rest).
Anyway, do I need to detach the tie rods from the spindles or do I just need to loosen the nut and then turn the rod itself?
(what about for the rear tie rods?)

are you sure its tow out, maybe its too much camber? best let the pros do the work. i think its 75 bucks for lifetime adjustments at tirerack.

no, camber does not cut a line on the very edge of the tire but rather, would wear the tires univenly from in to out (or the inverse depending if you have neg or pos camber).
I'm at 1.1 deg up front on both side, and my toe is jacked up. I Measured at 5/16 out, but I need to go do it again (it was getting dark, and I can't remember if it was in or out but from my 3 h search on here, sounds like it's out...which don't get me wrong, the car response very well -darty- which is a sign of being toed out = great for track and racing, not so great of tire wear, and since it's my DD, I need good tire wear )
Since I have about 10400 miles on the tires, I've decided to experiment a little before I go spend 1K+ on Invos. I'm shooting for 0 toe to 1/16" in up front and 1/16" out back. Right now I have 3/16" out back and although it pull nice and straight even breaking them loose, it maybe a little to much...

Far as shops touching the car, well, they are a hit and miss...alignment isn't rocket science...it is a little time consuming, but that's ok. I knew of one guy that was worth the $$ but he's in FL and I'm in SC.

if I do end up messing things up, then I'll check out Tirerack though, thanks for the heads up on it

Just loosen the jam nut and turn the tie rod.

You say you've done a bunch of searching, so you've probably seen several threads like this one:

If you haven't already run into references to his site, I highly recommend checking out David Farmer's great website for outstanding info on doing your own alignments (link on his home page to "alignment guide"), torque specs, and much, much more:
