I've heard from many sources that its somewhere between 17.5 - 18.0 % loss through an auto. I have an A6 with 435rwhp. If the A6 loses 25% then that means my flywheel hp would be 580
18% seems more realistic for my car...... which would be about 530 flywheel hp.

I respectfully disagree.
If it's 20-25% on an auto, an LS2 would dyno around 300-320 rwhp.
Typically, its between 45-55 hp. So, a stock LS2 dyno's ~ 345-355 at the rear wheels and the LS3 are about ~375-385.
I never understood the % factor because it does not make any sense that an engine with 600 hp @ the flywheel would loose twice as much as a 300 hp @ the flywheel through the same drive train.
Percentage doesn't work. There's enough info from dynos on this Forum to say that LS2 Manuals lose 50 - 60HP from Flywheel to Rear Wheel and Automatics lose 60 - 70HP.
Using just Dynojet SAE smoothing 5 figures All Manual LS2's ran 340 to 350 RWHP and all Auto LS2's ran 330 to 340 RWHP.
Seems to be holding true for LS3's also, aprx. the same HP losses Flywheel to Rear wheel.
