Service active handling Recall

Yes, my car (2005 3LT) has had this problem for a year or so -- and the dealer has the car now. However, the orange comb was already installed (a year ago -- to no avail) and they said that met the recall. They did then diagnose a "yaw rate sensor error" after chasing it with a data logger whiloe driving. They are replacing that sensor today (for $300), so we'll see if the sage ends there. Most people seem to have tried the same deal as I did with the orange comb -- maybe some got rid of the problem with it, but not me. It seems to be a weak recall (but cheap for GM) for such a serious problem.

Got car back -- it seems the problem was fixed by acting on Tech II code C0196, replacing the yaw rate sensor. I drove it 75 miles after repair without a failure. Before that I could never go 20 miles without a failure. Go figure, you could have the recall done with the orange comb (as I did) and not find this problem unless the code was set and they checked it -- but symptoms are identical, and scary.

On the surface, this doesn't sound like a proper fix.
A "signal interruption" from the wheel sensor can cause the car to crash. Guess what, signals get interrupted - that's reality - especially as the wiring systems of cars age.
The system needs to be able to tolerate intermittent signals and dying sensors, and fail safe.
Is GM's remedy an attempt to prevent signal interruption (band-aid), or a revision to the actual control system to reliably ignore bogus input (real fix)?

refund repairs
I am afraid the dealership is going to say what they fixed was not the recall. I spoke with GM today and they wanted to confirm that the repairs that were done were indeed to fix the recall. I know they were but I fear the dealrship will try to get more $$$ from GM by saying the repairs were not for the recall. It cost me $600 and I want a refund, I told the dealership it would be a recall sooner or later!

There are probably no C6s out there that would still be under warranty.

It was a TSB that the dealer fixed, not a recall. I had this exact code come up on my 2006 a few months ago, and the GM scanner showed it was the connector at the SWPS.
I checked, the comb had been installed. I took everything apart at the connector, checked the pins, cleaned, put back together, zip tied the connector together, and fixed it.

the recall, was for the two years with telescoping steering, where telescoping steering could cause the wiring to rub and cause a problem. So this is the reason for the wire clip for just the two years, and was installed oem on the 07 and later years for the same reason as well.
The steering column sensor, that's a problem of just wearing out like any other sensor from either use or time, or in cases where the rack has to be removed, someone turns the wheel too many turns either way, and breaks the sensor. The glitch to the sensor, is the amount of labor is take to replace one, hence same as say a fuel pump in the tanks as well.
As for time issue thing, think of it like the VSS sensor in the diff, and since it it magnetic, just a mater of time until the magnets do go weak from time alone. The difference with this one, since it on top of the diff, pretty simple to replace, without out having to remove parts to get to it.
