Hey all. I am having a ton of issues with my 2005 Corvette. Hoping someone could give me some insight on this issue.
I bought the car about a year and a half ago. After a couple of months I started having electrical issues. It starts with the doors not openning. The red light flashes but the doors won't open. I manually open the hatch and pull the release cord. At that point the alarm goes off until I sit in the car. Then the car won't start. I feel a difference in the brake pedal when this is happening. It doesn't depress easily like when the car is working fine. Also the green circle on the ignition switch does not turn green. Then, hopefully, after a few minutes the car will start. However, sometimes the car will not go into gear. Sometimes the gauges don't work and I start getting a bunch of service messages on the dash. Sometimes the car starts and gauges are fine and car still won't go into gear. I have even had the car start as I was walking away from it and then shut back off. Then the next day the car runs fine. I'm getting ready to burn it!!!
I have had the car towed in three times. The dealer has replaced the battery, body control module, and ECM and the problem persists. Every time this happens the events are different.
Has anyone else experienced such issues or am I the only lucky one???
How many miles on the car and what is the history? Has this car been repaired for anything? Has it had this problem long? Check you personal message area too for a message from me.
Too bad you didn't post prior to all of that work. Did you try replacing the battery in your FOB? A weak fob battery can create very similar problems to what you are describing (ask me how I know). $3 fix from Walmart.
I agree with torque about the bad ground causing the DIC messages after the car is started. Check the fuse box under the hood as well as the one under the passenger footrest behind the carpet.

Yes, it is an automatic. Also, the first thing I tried was replacing the FOB battery.
Luckily I bought a warranty on the car. So it only costs me $100 bucks per repair....

Sounds like the dealer is making out pretty good being a parts changer. I would find another shop that the warranty recognizes that has a Tech2.
The mechanic should be able to locate the problem. That's what the tech 2 is for and not just guessing. Anybody can just change out parts and a blind squirrel can find a nut every once in a while.
Sounds to me like the EBCM, It's also part of the security system. A lot of things rolled up in that module. I am surprised they would replace an ECM before reprogramming this one.

A good shop should with a TECH 2 and a good TECH should be able to see what problems have commonality. A ground return can affect many of the things described here although its tough for someone on this thread to just give you a straight up answer. Any chance this car was under water.

I think you mean ECM as the EBCM is the Electronic Brake Control Module.
Does the car sit a lot? Is it hooked up to a battery tender? Do you know that you have a good battery in the car?
I had similar issues when I had the car sitting for a couple weeks on the original battery, going on 3.5 yrs. old- scared the hell out of me. I had a hunch it was the battery, replaced it with an Optima Red Top and everything has been fine since.
I also had some odd things happen when the battery in the key fob went dead recently, but that was mainly me not being able to lock or unclock the car.
