Definitely a must to help the fuel gauge problem, going through that right now. As far as too much, GM states that you can do two tanks back to back with the additive only once in the life of the car. But do a single shot on every oil change.
Many of us do not have that gas company in our area.
That stuff works good in most cases. I know it helped my 98 vert and a couple other friends with full gauge problems. For my 98 I put a bottle in for each of 3 fill ups in a row to get the gauge working right and then put in the recommended amount ever 4-5 fill ups. Car was off warranty when the gauge problem happened and the fix is expensive and a lot of things must be removed to fix
In my 07 I put in Techron about every 4 fill ups. Its cheap insurance
The chevron Proguard Fuel Injector cleaner or the concentrate?
FWIW I wish we had that Chevron gas here I know I would use it
You can get the Proguard fuel injector cleaner at Costco 6 for like $15.99 but there is the other fuel concentrate see above in other thread mentioned.

It cured my '02 Suburban's fuel gauge problem 3 or 4 summers ago. I might use a can or 2 yearly, as the tank is over 37 gal.
