Default Header Question

C6-06 LS2: I have the Corsa Sports exhaust. I may eventually want to upgrade. So this is what is on my mind. I'm not installing a cam, I want to add 1-3/4 LT headers tied into my existing 2.5 pipe exhaust. How much HP will I gain. Will there be much difference from my 2.5" vs. the 3". I just spent $$$ on the corsa sports. tks TIM$VETT

I would think around 5-8 hp gain, however I am no expert. Sure someone here has a good idea....

I wouldn't bother waisting your money on a new 3" exhaust unless you were going FI. Several guys have experimented between 2.5 and 3 and have seen very minimal gains with FI. I would stick with 1-3/4 and your current 2.5 exhaust. The key to picking up noticable hp is with a tune. You will easily get 10or more hp with a good tune. Add and cold air intake and you'll really see a difference. Good luck.

Aftermarket exhausts gain little to no HP. Headers will add from 20-35 rwhp depending on who you believe.

The difference between 2.5" and 3.0" exhausts is very little IMHO. I recall an old thread that showed the difference between an aftermarket exhaust and no exhaust (open pipes) was less than 5 rwhp. The Z06 mufflers neck down to 2.5 at the inlet.

Definitely no need to swap out for the 3". LT headers fatten the tq curve more than outright hp. Peak hp may be 25 gain or so, but I gained almost 4 mph at the drag strip, and it was never easier to spin those runcraps. I swapped tunes back and forth between stock and a mail order at the track one night and didn't see much difference. However, the removal of tq management is awesome and very noticable, and it was nice to turn off the CEL that popped up about a hundred miles after installing the headers. Also got rid of skip shift without the resistor mod.
The headers were definitely worth it, and I would recommend it to anyone considering them.

Also keep in mind that the sound of your exhaust will change when you add headers.

Tim, Our 1-3/4" header system will bolt up to your Corsa system right at the rear axle. The system will start out at 3" through the X-pipe but will reduce to 2-1/2" after the cats. Though we make a 3" mid section that reduces to 2-1/2" by the rear axle, I believe it's more than you need. If you'd like to get into in detail simply PM me a phone number and a good time to call and I'll reach with all the info about our systems. If it's easier you can reach me at 631-608-1986. Thanks.

All of our header systems are designed to work with the OEM or aftermarket replacement systems. Street Series or Super Pro's. No modification needed.

Like most have said, the cat backs do not gain much in the way of HP as from what I have seen in the past. Most of the gain is going to come from the headers, cold air, tune....

Now I did do a before and after on my 2006 LS2 car. I took off the stock mufflers and went to the Z06 Borla units after our headers were already on the car. I gained 8rwhp 12 rwtq....but not only going 2.5 to 3" but also OEM to aftermarket so not a huge gain, but no loss from the bigger pipes either.
