sure does m12 x 1.5 sound correct? what length do i need? im looking to purchase in store because i need these by friday when i install my brakes
Yep - 12mm x 1.5 threads, and select whatever length you want.
Here's the picture from the DR site that Randy posted up:
You can see the stock stud at the bottom, so pick what ever length you want - just be aware that unless you're using an open-ended racing lug nut or a spacer, your longer lugs may not allow the stock lug nuts to seat properly and hold the wheel on tightly.
I'd recommend a good set of open-end racing lug nuts for use with extended length lugs - something like the ones below:
Where are you at in the world? Normally I can get stuff to people in a hurry due to our central US location. The coasts are about 4 days away, but 3 day select works slick.
Yes 12mm X 1.5 is correct!!!
What is the purpose of longer studs for racing? Just to allow spacers, or is there some strength benefit to having longer studs?
Well there is a few reasons to run aftermarket wheel studs. Some rule books in drag and road racing require a open lug nut with some stud still sticking out. The ARP studs are hardened and can withstand the abuse of racing, multi impact blows, and etc. It really opens the door to use spacers!
Stock and our 1/2 longer studs are made with a OEM like material. Which is good because of the cost and ease of install.
The Black studs shown in the picture are a GM racing stud. They have a extra starting lug to help with speedy tire changes in the pits. Is it needed? Not really for 99.9 cent of people out there.
