For anyone who has ported a Fast 102 how do you match the intake runner to the head? Would it not require the heads and manifold to be placed on an engine to properly optimize the transition between the two? Not everyone has the same cylinder heads and it will vary with the various heads on the market such as stock, AFR, TFS etc.
There are plenty of places where you could send your intake for porting, is it just a generic one-fits-all port job?

curious...
A good question and I have been down that road. No it is not a one size fits all. nor is it a easy do it yourself Job but you should tell the Porter the Heads you are running. When you get the Manifold back you can place the lower part of the manifold on the heads and torque it down very easily. You will then see how well it was matched. you may see a small amount of mismatch at the bottom of the runners but leave it alone because that is where the least amount of air flow is. Be careful about dissmanteling the manifold as you may create a air leak upon re-assembly.

That is exactly right. Some porters do not work to match the porting in the IM to the heads a customer is running. They do a "generic" job. At our shop, we always ask what heads a customer is running and work to match the porting of the IM to the head specs. If a customer has heads that have been ported, we ask for the new ported dimensions on the head to match up to.
If you're interested in porting your FAST manifold, take advantage of the special discount we're running through 12/31/10. You can find more information at this post: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...y-porting.html
I ported my own FAST 90 and put the base directly on the heads and bolted it in place. Then I matched the ports that way. It worked very well in that case.
You could always template the heads and use the template to transfer the port diminutions to the manifold. It will be a LOT closer than a guess port.
Borrowing the thread for a second. What type of rwhp comes from a porting? I would assume it would primarily be for high rpms with no disadvantages for low rpm?

PeO.
LS2 estimates can be found on our thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...y-porting.html
Fast intake porting will generally pick up 12 rwhp for an LS2 and 8 rwhp for an LS3. Not sure what your configuration is. If that doesn't answer your question, PM me with your specifics and I will do my best to answer your question.
