Default Best headers

I have a LS2 2005 with a Corsa Sport exhaust system including the x pipe. I am looking for headers and I am interested in opinions on the best brand and where to purchase.

I am looking for a pickup in performance but I am not going to race the car. I have a new cold air intake, and plan to have it tuned after the headers are installed.

Thanks.

You will get similar gains with any brand of quality headers...

Kooks, LG, AR, etc.... I have LG's.

I love my headers. Makes more power and the sound at WOT with the Corsa Sports is worth it alone. I could not imagine going back to stock.

I have Dynatech but understand there are plus and minus to every make.

Currently I have the LG super pro long tube headers 1.7/8"

it's really good and top quality but also nothing wrong with kooks and ARH,,,
those 3 brands are on the top of the list when it comes to headers!

I had an 06 Z-51 MN6 Coupe (jut sold it to get my 11 Grand sport vert) and I wanted a little more performance. So,,, I installed some JW Motoring Stainless Steel LT header system, a VARARAM, and a home Ported TB.

I installed all the stuff and drove it for a while without a tune. It had a noticeable HP increase but,,, you could tell it was running rich and my fuel efficiency went from 25-26 Highway to 22-23.

After diving it for about 7 months un tuned I had Chuck at Corvettes Of Westchester NY tune it.

WHY,,, did I ever wait so long??? WOW! There was a SIGNIFICANT improvement in HP, throttle response and fuel efficiency after Chucks magic.

I never had it dynoed after the tune but the power gains were significant and the fuel efficiency was unbelievable. Stock out of the box highway mileage best was low 26's. All the new mods and after Chucks tune, I saw high 28's and low 29's on the trip to and from the Cruise In at Bowling Green Ky last spring.

Headers and a cold air intake will make a very nice and affordable improvement in power. The tune ties it all together..

I was VERY happy with the results of the modifications even before the tune and shocked at the results after the tune!

I'm not sure you will be able to use the Corsa cross over pipe with a new set of headers. You will most likely need to get the cross-over pipe that is made for the headers you decide on. The mufflers should be no problem.
I could be wrong on this and I'm sure someone will be quick to correct me if I am.
ARH on my car BTW

That is what I am trying to determine. I emailed Corsa with the question.

thanks.

OP - I have an '05 as well and don't plan to race my car other than a few trips to the 1/4 mile track. I went with LG's Street Series to save myself some cash.

I've had them on for several months; so far, so good.

Like one of the guys said earlier you are not going to see major performance differences between manufactures however there are a couple things we have learned over the years through testing both on and off the track that do make a little difference that we do with our headers. The biggest difference you will see between most is how they are made. We use only 100% T304 stainless steel, CNC mandrel bent tubes, 3/8" thick flanges and are completely hand fabricated and Tig welded. I am confident when I say that you will not find a better quality, nicer looking header on the market.

As far as bolting up to your current x-pipe we designed our headers to be a fully modular system meaning our headers would bolt to the factory H-pipe if so desired and should work with you current x-pipe. The only issue with this is that you will be left without cats. We offer a x-pipe with high flow cats that should work with your existing axle back if you don't want to change that.

Hopefully this helps answer some questions and you can visit our website www.bbexhaust.com or contact us directly if you have any additional ones.
