Will a set of C6 Z06 mufflers fit on a 2010 C6 Automatic coupe? I have read many threads, but did not see this question answered. The difference I have seen listed is 2.5" stock exhaust on my car and 3" on the Z06. I am going to add ARH headers w/ 3" "X" pipe. Just need to know if the Z06 mufflers will work with this combination without modification????? I know someone has tried this and will be able to answer. Thanks!
Yes. The Z06 exhaust is 3" but the muffler inlet is 2 1/2" like the standard mufflers. The 3" pipes won't fit around the auto trans though. Here's a little info that should help:
Thanks for the reply! Guess I will have to check out something other than the Z06 mufflers.
You can just have the 2.5" section from your mufflers cut and welded to the Z06 mufflers. That's what I did. That way you can add a valve controller and have the ability to run quiet or loud.
Even with long-tube headers my Z06 mufflers are very quiet when needed (law enforcement is near) with the valves closed. Most of the time I run with the valves open. I also did the "muffler mod".

San
That works well for me too, although no muffer mod.
To the OP: Install the headers and X-pipe, but reduce the x-pipe to 2.5" just after it bends to mate up with the over-the-axle pipe. You can use the tail end pieces of your stock 2.5" x-pipe as part of the size reduction. Then cut the Z06 pipe off the muffler leaving about a 3/4" stub. Cut your stock 2.5" over-the-axle pipe off as close to the stock muffler as possible. Weld that original pipe to the Z06 muffler.
If you don't have welding capabilities, any decent muffler shop can do it easily.

Go 3" X 3" inch x-pipe, 3" mid-pipes, & will bolt directly to Z06 w/o modification. I know you got a lot of feedback, but I'm certain this combo will work. Just ask whever you getting x & mids your mating to Z06s & want 3" all the way.

I dont think it fits on the automatic cars. I have the 3" x to the stock 3" Z06 catback pipes. It was super tight on my M6.

You may be right, I forgot they made vettes w/ autos. Lol. I guess a call to ARH, LG or perhaps George at Kooks may be in order. Coincidentally, just sent you a pm & posted a Z06 C6 muffler conversion on pipe manu. that may be the fix. They source off the shelf reducers 3" to 2.5", so he could go 3 to 2.5 X , 2.5 mids & use the 2.5 to 3" I mention in post from www.heartthrobexhaust.com

The '09 and up A6 required a change in over-the-axle pipe that the Z06 didn't.
Also the LS3 smaller displacement doesn't need or want 3" pipe all the way to the muffler to cool the exhaust. By reducing the pipe size at the back end of the X-pipe, gas velocity is better maintained because the volume has decreased. It will decrease again while in the muffler, which is why the muffler outlet is sized even smaller than the inlet.
Its done here...I've installed the Z06 full exhaust system into my LS2 A6 C6.
I'd advice to let a muffler shop do the installation though, its super tight and you'll need to bend the muffler pipes in order they dont hit the diff. Drivers side muffler was the biggest PITA to install.
