I am ready to begin installing my Kooks headers and a few other mods. The directions state that the car needs to be 24" high. Right now I have the car 18" off the ground, measured from the ground to the bottom of the rocker panel.
Is this the correct place to measure? I honestly don't think I can raise it another 6". I had to use an 8"x8" block on my jack to get it up where it is now. Also, I will be working from both the top and underneath the car, so if I go much higher I will not be able to work in the engine bay.
You will be fine at that height. I believe mine was a bit lower than that on both sets I installed.
I've got the Kooks as well (not that it matters). My front stands were probably 14-16" which is as far as they can extend. The back were probably 18-20", simply because I did not want the car too lopsided front to back. I had plenty of room - no problem. It is just a matter of tilting the headers a bit to make them slide in correctly. And yes - I put them in from the bottom, not the top.
