Default Ls2 engine oil low?

Does anyone have any infoor suggestions on why my ls2 engine is consuming engine oil and where does the oil go?

The "check engine oil" message comes up and the oil level is about .5 quart low about every 500 miles

There are no symptoms of mechanical failure either. Engine runs smooth and strong

Not sure what you're referring to here. Your LS2? Are there others? I haven't seen this info on thsi site, perhaps I missed it.

Mine uses no oil between 5K mile oil changes, now at 50,000 miles.

I was referring to an ls2 on my 07. My 2011 doesn't have that issue. It's not burning oil nor leaking anywhere. Exhaust pipes are clean. I just don't know where the oil is goin to and why

You'd have to be over a quart low to get that message. I would check the sensor; it is located right by the starter on the passenger side of the car.
