Default Throttle Body Motor Question?

Okay guys..I've got a Nick Williams 102 I bought from a forum member. Not blaming anybody...It took me several weeks to even get a chance to get it installed. I don't think the member I bought it from had ever even installed it..Just one of those things and my bad for not getting it installed right after I got it. So this is not a blame game..just want to get it fixed ASAP and for reasonable $.
Finally got around to having it installed this week and we just found out the motor unit is bad in it. This is the older NW 102 TB so we needed to get a conversion harness for it to make it work on my 06 Z06. After hours of trouble shooting, stalls and TB codes they put a loaner Nick Williams 102 on and she fired right up. Closer look at my TB and it appears the motor controller unit in mine is bad.

Question is: Is the motor unit the same in all the TBs or different. If so anyone have one or a source for just a motor unit. I hate to buy a whole new Nick Williams 102 TB to just steal the motor unit if just the motor unit can be changed out. Any help or ideas?
The one that I have actually has the NOS ports, however, it is still a Nick Williams 102 with the same motor unit assembly. That's why I really just want to swap motor assembly on it. I'm guessing a stock C5 TB motor may work? All you gurus..let me know if I'm thinking right?
Thanks..
Tom

Tom,,,, The Throttle Body MOTOR for a C5 and C6 are 100% completly different! NO WAY to convert..
As for the differences between the early and present C6 TB,,,, I can not comment. I have never had one apart.

Thanks for the input..at this point I guess I'm asking to see if I take a donor C5 TB motor and put it in the C5 Nick Williams 102 TB will it work. My tech called Nick Williams Racing (or whoever owns Nick Williams now) and he really could not get a straight answer from them since I bought it from somebody else. Other than the wide mouth etc. is the motor unit the same as OEM TB? If so I can find a C5 TB and just swap the motor on the OEM C5 TB to the C5 Nick Williams 102 TB.
The Nick Williams TB for the C5 and C6 are the same fit and is common place to be able to use it on LS7 with the proper Casper wiring adapter..you just need the adapter harness.
We have done that and all is good there..It's just the bad motor that I need to change.

I guess I'll call some vendors today, maybe they can tell me if the TB unit on any 102 is just a OEM motor and the widened mouth being the only primary difference. I'm still open hears if anybody knows. Thanks guys..

Bill,

I have exhausted most of the possibilities. The regular OEM C5 throttle body motor is the same in the NW 102 TB for C5. Most of our forum vendors plus other outside did not have just the motor. The ones I did have conversation with told me trying to get the C5 to dial in on the C6even using the proper Casper harness will be hours upon hours of tuning. Most suggested using the new Nick Williams 102 C6.

I spoke w/ the original seller and he was an awesome stand-up guy and was willing to take it back and refund my money..The TB was never installed on his ride since he changed his mind half way through his build. He said he had no idea it had a problem and did not hesitate taking it back even though I have had it for about 6 weeks (just now getting it to the shop). It was nice dealing with someone with integrity and who was willing to make things right.

Long story short we've pulled it off and I'm sending it back to the seller. He is going to try to get it repaired. We are going w/ a new C6 Nick Williams TB and a seperate NOS spray plate. Cost slightly more, but it will save in tuning time and we know it's all new parts..

Those that chimed in..thanks for the input..Now let's get this rolling

Im trying to see how you can use either a C5 or C6 TB. There two COMPLETLY DIFFERENT animals.

Heres a C5 ported TB:

Heres the Motor and sensor on a C6 TB:

Here the TWO TB together.

The C5 is mounted with THREE Fasteners and the C6 is mounted with FOUR Fasteners.

Bill,
Thanks for the pics. The place that works on my car is is Memphis (about 2 hrs from me). I did not take the TBs off here at home prior. I bought it based on what what the seller said as he had it posted here in the our C6 section. He originally bought it from LMR and apparently they had a plan in mind. The one for the C5 also has the NOS ports built in. I think there is more "material" to work with. I know the my shop said they had to do some fab and machine work to get it to fit. I'll look back through my old posts and see if I can find a pic to show you. The new parts won't be in until early next week so I won't be picking up the car and not parts until late next week. After looking at your pics I will also be curious to see how they made it fit. Just for sheets and grins I'll post a pic to show what they did or....attempted to do. Here was the pic that I was looking at when I decided to buy it.

OK,, Now I get it. Thats a CUSTOM housing with a C5 motor assy. Any C5 throttle motor should fit it. Its actually a SERVO MOTOR. The housing fits a LS2 style manifold which is a four bolt mount.

Unless your using a FAST or LS2 intake, that wont fit.

Just pop the old one off and install a used good one. I'm sure that there are numerous people on here that have old C5 TB laying around. Unfortunately, I do not have any.

That is a big friggen manifold!!
