E-force install questions
Issues encountered
Cranking the Pin, I didnt use edelbrocks instructions for the raising of the engine, There are far easier ones on used on magnacharger/callaway. When removing the crank pin, make sure you have the most powerful air impact driver, mine was rated at 630 ft/lbs and it took some time to loosen.
Assembly of Pipes, Edelbrock missed a part about a vacuum pipe, if you dont have NPP then you have to Cap this pipe off otherwise you will allow unclean air into the engine and "Lean" codes will show up.
PCV tube removal, it doent tell you that there are pins that are on the bottom, you have to depress them and pull, sounds simple but I wish I knew that before I started
Serpantine belt, install the belt around as much as you can before you reinstall the radiator fan, it was a dog to install.
Bolting down the manifold, the bolts are so far in with little vertical clearance, using a normal socket and universal coupling is hard to do, especially the bolt on the drivers side rear, I would make sure if I was to do it again, I would get a shallow socket (not tall).
The templates they provide are too small, before you start copy them again increasing the size to 108%. You can double check by lining up the rectangular holes on the shroud
Instructions on best layout of pipes should be included, when connecting them up it was like a snake pit, I had to jiggle the pipes around.
Horn now sounds like a duck call, apparently you have to jury rig the orig bracket for them to work properly, there are posts on this already, I will be working on that this weekend.
Generally the install was fairly straight forward, I like the fact that you don't have to butcher your vehicle to make it fit, Edelbrock should however include the "beehive" as part it with instructions on how to modify the shroud. With this done, you can get cooler air into the engine, again there are many posts on how to do this.
Hope it wasnt too confusing, these are just points that I wish I knew before I started, After driving it now all I can say is "It was worth it"
I do however still have to install the fuel pump, I was planning on doing it before, I did have issues with removing the drivers side exhaust, this will be done @ some in the very near future, just have to take it easy on the peddle till then.
Peace
Steve
This will be my next weekend project
