When it is time for a clutch get the Katech LS9. The X will hold 800ft lb of torque and 700+hp. The R holds even more. The flywheel is 16lbs lighter than the stock flywheel, feels like I added 40hp to the car. The best thing it feels like stock.

It was definitely a mod party at my house yesterday! Of course Steve (Wanttospeed), Craigster, GtoDoug, RapidRick, Andy3101 and 3 other non forum members. Turned out to be very helpful, thanks guys!

Here are a few build pics. Craigster has some more...it was quite a Vettefest out front with 2 600 rwhp c6Z's, Steve's c5Z and of course my Vert.

Needed a little persuasion to get at the lower head bolts. Didn't have to remove the headers on either car which was nice.

Sweet! I'm curious to see what gains, both dyno and strip, you now have with the aftermarket heads. I'm already planning for another head swap party next year with AFR's... it never stops!

Joe,
Did Mike sell his car yet? I think you should be able to run him down at PBIR with your new setup.

Theofel is going to be hard to beat....that converter of his combined with that super low 1st in the a6 is a killer combo!

I am eager to hit the track though. I don't know if the heads & compression will make a huge difference. I did take the car for a spin around yesterday...traction is quite an issue in 1st and 2nd now which wasn't a problem before, even with my huge 345 street tires. Midrange with the 205's is noticeably stronger. Didn't get much WOT on the street of course. I took some timing out of my existing tune, and was surprised how well the car ran with no other changes. I'll hit the dyno for some further tweaking later.

Please post results when you get them. I think that going from stock 243's to AFR's is going to finally put that stock clutch to bed. You may want to start thinking about a eulogy now...

Enjoy the new power and track times.

Car looks and sounds outstanding as always Joe. I'll have to take a trip across the state this winter to come meet you and some other vette guys at the track.

You are welcome anytime, stay tuned for cool days in December/January. We have a great group and have a blast at PBIR.

Thanks Chris and everyone else.

I'll post up, of course. I hope my clutch lasts a whole but will call you Chris when the time comes.

Google maps puts PBIR at a hair over 3 hours from my house so I will be sure to make the trip at least once. Did you make it up here to Bradenton for the LSX challenge last March? From the photos and articles I read about in GMHTP magazine, it looks like an awesome time with a load of awesome cars.

What are some of the better racing events at PBIR? I'll make sure I can make it down for them.

I'm not much of a betting man, but i'm afraid the odds aren't in your favor...I'll be standing by, hoping I'm wrong

I just went from stock 243s to the AFR215 V2s, and the clutch is on its way out in one week.

no not yet....in the heat of the summer in Miami none of the numbers are going to be good....track nor dyno!

Last time at the track in June I ran 11.5@121, da 2000... I will hit the track soon and see what it will do in this heat.
