Default Stroker motor numbers

I know there are not many c6's running all motor stroker setups, but I am looking for a few people to post up some numbers, specifically rwtq. I am not trying to start a pissing contest, but I am curious if my numbers are in the ballpark and what others are realistically putting down. I have used the search button and not much pops up for the stroker cars so maybe it is time for a thread. I have learned dyno numbers do not mean everything, but I am just looking for ballpark figures. Feel free to post 1/4 mile and trap speed times as well, but it would help if I could see what others are putting down for power, mainly the torque figures. I was previously disappointed in my 412ci build up for my car until I recently swapped my cam out and added an UDP. I picked up 40+rwhp SAE corrected on a dyno that reads lower than 3 other big name shops that I have been to. I get the car back tomorrow and will make a separate thread for that. Also how many stroker cars are running on factory ported heads? My car still has a set of ported 243's, but I'm not sure I want to spend the $ for something that may only yield me minimal gains. I will post up my numbers tomorrow and hopefully others will join along.

I don't know, but I know if I was running a stroker motor and not making at least 550rwhp n/a I'd be pissed.

I don't think I've seen any ls2 based strokers hit 550rwhp sae corrected..those must be some wild, high cr builds.

Quickzilver has one, search for his posts. He's in the high 10's 1/4 mile IIRC, but he's an automatic.

Good thread! I've stroker that I'm not very happy with power & drive ability. I've been mining the camshaft events etc. for the past few weeks & it seems my intake valve is currently closing to late.

I'm probably another month out before I get the new cam in & results.

Well that's ridiculous when people are hitting over 500rwhp on stock cube builds.

What's the benefit of dumping all of the money into the stroker motor?

i've seen them make less than 550, but its generally traceable to not doing the whole combo such as mediocre heads, skipping the intake, or using a cam better suited to a stock cube build up.

I agree.

I don't understand why people build a stroker motor and stick with crap parts or shelf-cams.

Well built LS3's can get 500 rwhp with stock heads. Stock LS3 heads are on par with ported 243's. 500 hp with 376 cubes is 1.33 hp/cubic inch. A 416 at 1.33 hp/cubic inch would be 550rwhp. Only fly in that ointment is that the 416 would need better intake, heads, cam, and exhaust to maintain that 1.33 hp/cubic inch necessary to hit the 550 rwhp mark.

True...and that's 1.33 hp/cubic at the wheels too, quite impressive when it all comes together.

And let's not forget the higher torque figures that also come with a 416 (or most 'bigger inch' stroker motors) as well.

There are stock cube LS3s with 525+ and a few stock LS2s with 500+.
Yes we all know it's somewhat inaccurate to compare dynos from different shops, times, etc. But if stock cube LS2/3s can consistently hit 500+ rwhp with rwtq in the high 400s, I would expect a stroker, especially a 412ci, to best that considerably.

Like others have posted, the key may be in the set up details not just the cubes.

Also keep in mind that strokers usually have better torque curves. Let's see the dyno numbers/graph.

Well sounds like no one has posted specs on and and it sounds like i will be on the low end as well.

I do have only 243 heads, they were ported by TEA but they aren't the beast cast heads like AFR or Trickflow so i know i could pick up some there.

My cam was also chosen for a purpose, road racing so i want more torque and usable power through the whole power band.

I have a 6.6L 403ci stroker in my LS2. I have a FAST102 with 102mm NWTB, cam is 234/238 ~.600 lift on both and a 114+2 LSA.

I peaked at about 505rwhp and have about 485rwtq i think.

I do have about 400rwtq at about 2500 rpms so it pulls like mad down low.

I wasn't going to draw the car so i wanted the power to be a bit flatter and its a daily driver so i didn't want a huge cam.

So there's my stats, bash away if you think i am not worthy.

Is it an auto or manual?

That also seems like a very small cam for a 403

You won't get any bashing from me. Sounds like it's a purpose build and it's perfect for what you're doing. No need for high revs on your rig. Sure, you could make bigger hp numbers with $2K worth of heads and a cam you probably won't like for a dd.

Hopefully no one will bash. As long as you're happy with the way the car performs, that's really all that matters. Strokers can (should?) produce more peak power than H/C LS2/3s but the power curve is always worth looking at. Like many builds, the devil is in the details. You picked a cam for your goals and a budget you felt comfortable with. Some people feel that just because you are doing a stroker, you should use all the best parts, ie: heads, cam, FAST, etc., to squeeze every ounce of power out of it. Just because someone is doing a rather expensive build, most strokers are, doesn't mean they don't still have a budget to work with.

Also, this is a good post to show that big power should easily be attainable.

You got over 500rwhp on a baby cam (for a 400 cube motor), 243s and I assume unported FAST 102? There's still a lot of power left on the table, even for a tame build. A 400+ cube motor can eat up a lot of cam without making it an uncomfortable daily driver.

Your's is very purpose built & is most likely is an absolute delight to drive!

I've been having cam's spec'd for my stroker & one of them was very near the cam you are running, same duration & very similar lift. I was told it was on the low side of the hp but would have the street manners & low speed torque I was looking for.

What good is building for low rpm torque when anytime you're going to want to get into the gas you'll be 3k+ rpms?

Low rpm power/torque is only good for managing traffic
