Pirelli PZero runflats
After two sets of GY Supercars, I've just fitted a set of Pirelli PZero runflats on my 2008 C6. I did a lot of research before making the move, and didn't see much relating to the PZeros on the forum so thought I'd share my experiences. Note that these are the new(ish) PZero runflats (not Rosso, Nero or Corsa!). Also worth mentioning that there are VERY limited options here in Europe - just GY Supercar, GY GS-D3, Michelin PS2 and Pirelli PZero. Oh yes, and the GY rears are all on backorder, the PS2s are 8 weeks delivery...but the PZeros are available off the shelf!
I had them fitted about a week ago, so early days but long enough to form an opinion. Compared to the GY Supercars, the PZero benefits are:
- softer ride (smooths off the rough edges, to the extent they don't feel like runflats)
- quieter ride, especially on concrete (no tyre noise to spoil the exhaust note
)- better traction off the line
- better grip in corners especially when the road's wet
- much less "edgy" when cornering hard, which inspires confidence
The only downside so far is that turn-in is a little softer, but OK once you get used to it it's not an issue.
