RPM Issues

When I started the engine to charge the battery, I decided to run up the rpm a little, I ran it up to 4000 and it would not go any higher, anybody know what the issue might be? I did not take it out of the garage to drive it to see if RPM goes higher when in gear.

There's an RPM limiter when in park to keep you from over revving the engine. Put it in gear and you'll see it's fine.

yes put your foot on the floor in park or neutral 4000 is all your going to get.

ps the alternator is not designed to charge the battery, only to maintain the electrical demand of the engine running.. use a battery charger or change your battery, otherwise you'll end up changing both..
