When I get in the car I hit the start button. Nothing happens for 5 to 10 seconds then the dash lights up and the instruments come to life. I can then push the start button and the car starts as normal. This happens intermitently sometimes the car starts immediatley when I hit the start button. Please advise.
Do you have your cell phone in the same pocket or near the fob? Do you have a cell phone charger plugged in as this will interfere with the signals to the internal receiver?
My brand new 2012 GS Coupe takes about 10 seconds for the computer to run through its startup cycle before the starter responds and before the radio responds. During this time the DIC displays a few different phrases.
I am assuming this is normal.................................. .......

If the BCM or any other module was bad it would not start at all.
Not true. As is often the case with electrical issues, they are more than often intermittent in nature. That's what makes them such PITA's to diagnose most times. Sorry for stating the obvious for you electronics guru's out there....

No, it's not normal. Both mine and my mom's crank immediately after pushing the start button.

Not normal at all!!!!
Take a look at this video of my C6 starting up:
You can see that when you have the clutch pedal depressed the car starts up immediately when the top of the ignition switch is pushed in.
There shouldn't be any significant delay from when you push the start button and when the starter cranks.

Let me be more specific, from the time I enter the car and the computer going through its start up cycle, it takes 10 or so seconds before the electronics get on line. From that time when I press the start button, it is immediate starting.
I can start mine immediately after getting in. I've never had any messages or waiting for the radio controls to work before I could start the car. Although I've never tried using the radio after getting in before starting the car.

I leave the radio on when I shut it down and it starts as soon as I push the start button.
