Default Active handling

Hello everyone, I just bought a 2005 base and I was told it has the Z51 package on it how do I tell and Saturday I got a message to have the active handling serviced it has come up several more time . Is this something I can check out or will I have to take it to a service department? Thanks for any help with this. By the way I had a C5 6 speed the new one is also a 6 speed 10x the fun.

I can't help you with all those questions. However, there's a sticker on the extreme left side of the inside of the glove box door. If your car has the Z51 option package, there will be a Z51 listed on it.

Also, except for model year 2005, all C6s are 6-speed, even the automatics. I'm guessing you meant your car has a manual tranny.

If the car has the factory drilled rotors then it more than likely has the handling package, but check the RPO sticker to verify.

Joe, you wanna get that recall looked at soon, can have some grim consequences if it all gets messed up. Some may advocate turning the AH off till it's looked at.

Congrats on the purchase, I have an 05 Z51 and absolutely love it. Welcome to the club.

Do not put off getting the AH issue corrected.

When you first start the car turn off TC/AH, this will prevent the car from intervening and in the worst case scenario, putting you in the ditch.

This is a well documented problem and one that your dealer should be familiar with.

Occasionally it's $$$, but most of the time it's a simple wiring connection in the steering wheel, covered (I think) under a recall.

Enjoy your car!
