Brake cleaner is highly flammable, spraying indiscriminately on an running engine is unsafe, catastrophic with an unintended spark and is detrimental on rubber parts nor friendly to electrical components around engine compartment. Use can do more harm than good.
Chemicals have unique application. Read manufacture's directions and warnings.

CARB CLEANER!????????????????? REALLY??
Its a whole lot less plastic part friendly (read MELT some plastic parts ) its a whole hell of a lot more flammable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Jesus Christ.

If you want to do it WITHOUT SOLVENTS, grab a propane torch and use the GAS (NOT LIGHTED) around all the possible air leak areas. If theres a leak, the ingested gas will cause an improvement in idle quality. OH,, BE CAREFUL<<<<< THAT GAS IS FLAMMABLE!!!

But certainly enjoyed your colorful and "CAPITALIZED" response! Its all good!
I could be wrong, over time, I have found my preferences. My posting was to remind those just starting out, to read warnings on chemicals and not to take posting as gospels, of course, thats including mine.
The good old potent Carb cleaners were too hazardous and non available locally. Today, we have in its place, milder "Carb & Throttle Body" cleaners. I do prefer "propane gas" primary, but in a pinch, I prefer the modern carb cleaner, spray in specific area for vacuum leak check and not in painting the engine fashion. Using precautions and small focused quantity, there is little cause of harm!
When comes to Brake Clean, there is one that is less potent, that is the one I prefer to use primary for what it is formulated for.
From this postings, you probably can tell where I stand when comes to using chemicals.
I hope I didn't pi$$ed in your parade and your "BLUE SUEDE SHOES" are pristine!!
