Default new setup

hi i want to let everyone know i changed a lot of things on my car, first i lost 25lbs and will lose even more, i changed to the base rotors turned plenty, and gto skinnies a savings of 20+lbs rotating and the light weight battery saving 23lbs, and the NX nitrous system, it works great, also my clutch pac has failed for my last 2 record runs with only one wheel traction leaving me to baby it off the line, i will defend the cam only spot without the bottle in the car.

None yet. I was there yesterday to get the bottle filled so I could check for leaks. Tried a 50 shot latter in the day. It was very smooth like giving it more throttle.not violent.it reached 7000 rpm in drive very quickly, water temps stayed 172 I sprayed it 5 full times

Glad to see you back at it again. Without any mention of your racing for a long time, it appeared you retired.

BTW, you just know you're going to take a lot of flak if you play in the internals arena again, after once having a bottle.

Seeing that you heavily questioned AndrewZPSU about crossing a line and back again and accused the Subfloor of the same, you'll always be suspected of the same shenanigans, whether true or false.

I don't remeber that. I put Andrew on the DC fast list, and as far as Christopher he never ran it. I verified Mitch g ran without it. I will have it verified. if its not a problem for tommyd. then it shouldn't be a problem Tom

I'm still kind of amazed by that, 102+mph in the 1/8th and a solid 129+mph at the stripe on such an 'average' sixty foot (keep in mind that the car has cut 1.43 and 1.41 sixty foots in the past). Those are almost strong running 'manual transmission' type traps.
All things considered, that 10.65 was a pretty good pass overall. Once you find that 'full throttle dead hook' again (easier said than done ) I think the car might hit some serious ETs.

There were also quite a few Corvette Forum members/witnesses (myself included) right there in the lanes to verify it as well.

Nice runs Dennis.

Maybe I missed it, but can you give a rundown of your mods now? You were 10.62 as a bolt-on car and now you've gone 10.5 with the cam? What all is done to it?

Sure Justin, ewp, under drive pulley, headers high flow cats, vararam, ported fast 90 and tb, 3800 converter, 373 gears. I feel the car will go 10.4s if I can get the 60 ft down, I was having clutch pack slip, the cam made a lot more tq and HP but that's dyno hype. I did a 10.59 130 mph 1.45 then 2 years later 10.61 1.47 now 10.65 129.50 1.55 got to find the 60 problem

Thanks Justin, wish I could make it happen but just like my grandfather always said, make a wish in one hand and take a crap in the other and see which one fills up first, he didnt exactly use the word 'crap' though LOL

Maybe I need new tires, these are the same ones I ran for the 10.69 run maybe 4 years or more ago, they still have faint lines of tread

Yeah that part is always a little confusing/misleading LOL.
The main difference there was the drivers, when it went 10.62 as an LS2 bolt ons only car it was being piloted by a 160-165 pound driver but on the car's best (so far) 10.59 cam only pass Dennis himself was driving and likely will be doing all of the driving from now on as well.
I think Dennis weighed almost 300 pounds back then (late 2009) and is probably still over 270+ now, not the best recipe for low sixty foots/low ETs.
The way the car was set up (some slight variances in the weight of which supporting parts were used etc.) and the air between the two track visits wasn't exactly the same either (I think it was slightly better air on the bolt on pass).

The trap speeds and sixty foots tell some of the story there as well:

Bolt ons = 1.41 sixty foot and 126+mph with 160 pound driver.
Cam only = 1.45 sixty foot and 130+mph with a 300 pound driver.
So the cam is working well, he just needs to get the car back to it's former crazy low short times again and it could maybe go a 10.4 NA even with him driving.

For comparison--I went 11.5@117 with boltons and then 11.5@122 on my very first time with the cam. It took a little time but I'm finally used to the setup.

With a little tweaking, learning to drive, skinnies, new tune, etc, the car now goes 10s consistently.
