Default TR-6060 Issue

I'm having an issue with my TR-6060. When I downshift into second, there is some shuddering/vibration as I drop to second. This is before I let the clutch out. It seems like a syncro is out of balance, damaged, etc. Again, it only does it on the X-2 downshift - it is particularly bad around 40mph.

Has anyone had this issue? My dealership is giving me a hard time about even looking at it since it "isn't very noticeable" to them.

Not normal, bring it to another dealer or insist that this is not normal operation of the transmission. If there are not willing to work with you call chevy customer service and get them involved.

YOu didn't say if it started doing that all of a sudden, if you bought car used, how many miles, if you're rev-matching, if you've changed tranny fluid.... Having said that, second gear is notchier than all others, and tricky to downshift into. Good luck.

I bought the car used. It was somewhat noticeable when I bought it, but now it seems to be getting worse. I have not be rev-matching on downshifts - but my understanding is that the sycros take care of that from a gear-mesh perspective.

I don't think it is "notchy" - this is happening before I actually make the downshift - if you ease toward the second gear gate, that's when it does this.

my understanding is synchros are there to ease the transition from gear to gear, but they won't last forever. they surely won't last forever if you're not trying to rev-match. or, put another way, if you take the car out of 4th, shift to 2nd, and release the clutch without bringing the rpms up to what might be approximately the rpms of 2nd, you will sooner (than later) have a trans issue.

good luck with it, but it could be the dealer saw how you shifted and concluded it was a driver issue. tell us that this isn't what you're doing.

What year is your Vette? If I had to guess, it would be your 2nd gear blockers being worn out. I agree with Mike's LS3 in that you should get GM customer service involved if the service manager wouldn't do anything. Good luck.
