C6 Traction woes
Hello all! I have a 08 supercharged C6 with 600 rwhp, and I have MAJOR traction issues. I have the stock wheel size on the rear, with Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval tires. So my question is, is the anything I can do to fix the traction issues short of the z06 rear fenders and changing the wheels to 19x12? I've looked at tires (looking for drag radials or the closest street legal tire I can find) but the 19x10 seems to be very limited on choices. Just looking to see if there is a tire I'm overlooking in my searches or if I just need to start saving for the fender kit and some new wheels =(. Thanks for any help!

Welcome to my world. I just changed yesterday from the stock size firehawks to Pilot Super Sport 305/30/19. It is a million times better. For a street tire that wears well and also is good in the rain I don't think there is a better option. I also have some MT 305/35/19 drag radials which I use sometimes. You have to come to grips with the fact that no street tire is going to hook from a start. Those firehawks were downright dangerous. They would break loose at almost any speed.

I forgot to mention, CCW's and running 325s are an option but I don't want to spend that money and then decide to go widebody later. The PSS 305's are actually pretty wide and look great.

I agree about the danger. The car breaks lose all the time and tries to send the rear end out. I fear it may be just dumb luck I've recovered as many times as I have (been in traction woes for almost a year now). Does the 305 fit on the stock 19x10's? Thanks for the advice!

I stepped down to an 18x11 in the back and went with M/T 305/35/18 drag radials....can still spin them if I really want to but they hook up plenty to make the car fun and safe to drive a little aggressively again.

A Bridgestone RE-11 or Hankook R-S3 is likely your best bet on a 19x10 if you don't want to move to an R compound tire.
At best you'll only sort of ever get traction with a 305/30/19 street tire and 600rwhp.
I run a 345/30/19 Khumo XS which is even stickier than the RE-11 and R-S3 and with 625rwhp I don't get traction until 40mph.
A Toyo R888 would be the best if you can avoid all water/rain.
That's because Invo's don't offer very good traction.
