Default Dewitt's radiator

So I added a Dewitt's radiator in my crammed 08 LS7. To my surprise the car is running hotter and there is a 10-12 swing in temps. Before the Dewitt's the car ran 192-196 now it is running 190-203. The car does have a160 degree stat in it and it's tuned for it also.

Any thoughts?

My car also has a 160* thermostat and a Dewitt's radiator and I see 180* temps on the highway, and up to 240* on the road course on a really hot day. I had my tuner set the fans for mid 180s though, so I don't expect to run cooler than that.

Are you running oil cooler lines through the radiator? I see mine has extra holes for that but I'm only running coolant through mine.

My thoughts are that it will cool better when pushing the car hard, but under normal circumstances it won't make that much difference. Are you sure the tuner set the fans to turn on at 160*?

I would check, maybe he left them to turn on at 190*. I know when talking with my tuner about it he didn't want to have them turn on at 160 otherwise they'd be running all the time unnecessarily.

Dewitts Radiator has never really seemed like a great mod. If you want to run cooler just run more water and water wetter (or a similar product).

You may have told your tuner to set the fans to come on at mid 180s, but besides being unnecessary I also believe it's impossible. I think the lowest turn-on temp for the fans is hard coded at 192.

This would explain a lot, if it is true.

If it is true? Nothing settles a lively debate better than data. Here's the stock fan programming and there are no choices below 192.

The DeWitts I put in my C6 is working very well. Knocked oil temps down from 300+ to 270 and keeps coolant temps to 210 on 85F days at VIR.

Did you get all the air out?

Dewitt builds fine products, so I doubt that it is a radiator issue, but something related to it.

We sell more C6 aluminum radiators than any other model, so obviously this isn't a universal opinion. I assume you meant to say "aluminum radiators" and not just us..

Quick question , Does the Dual fan upgrade you guys have for C6 fit direct to the stock radiator? or I have to have the Dewitt radiator to fit in?
Thanx,

The bracket only fit our thicker radiator, for now.

The shop that did has done a lot of rad. plus I have put a couple hundred miles on the car since the install. It should have burped up any air in the system by now.

No, I definitely meant to say DeWitt, but that doesn't mean my opinion is exclusive to your radiator.

I don't think dual fans will really help if you're getting to high temps at speed. If you need more air moving while stopped or at low speeds it's a good option though.

I wouldn't make that assumption, I have seen trapped air in fuel lines remain so until physically re-bled for far longer periods than a couple of hundred miles.
