I have an 05 (A4) the engine has a tune, but the trans is stock, but it shifts just fine (& I drag Race It Every Weekend)
I see so many posts here about how the A6 is slow to shift etc... etc... and other problims.... I'm happier than a pig in shi* with my A4 it shifts nice right at the Red Line, the car is very consistent at the race track, and shifts fast on the street....
Is the A6 better in general or is it just a matter of opinion? If I was given the chance to switch to an A6 I honestly don't think I'd do it.. I'm VERY satisfied with my A4 for both street driving & Drag Racing....

It's really just a matter of opinion but I will say this...the LS2 A6 will deliver overall better fuel economy than the LS2 A4 (especially the 3.15 geared cars) and stock versus stock I believe it to be roughly a full tenth quicker and a full 1mph faster in the 1/4 mile.
If I were buying a car strictly for street duty that was also going to be left completely stock I would go for the A6. If going for a more 'drag strip oriented' car and/or one that's going to be modified I would want to start with the A4.
The downside of the 2005s of course is the rear but a good replacement rear is still cheaper than replacing/trying to properly rebuild a 6L80 trans every 50 passes.

The stock A6 has better gearing(4.02 X 2.56) than the stock A4(3.06 X 2.73). It should be quicker and and give better gas mileage.
?????????A4,A6?On a vette froum ?Dragstrip times of a 2.0 liter 200 h.p car??????I dont get it i m sorry. Are you looking to break in to the 16s at 85 nmph?lol

What are you trying to say ? The A4 A6 are no good for drag racing ? I cant seem to understand your post.. please clarify it...
Where are 2. 0 times stated... the 2.0 you see is for the first 60' .
Corvette Camaro GTO GM truck Transmission performance tuning in Tampa
It seems like the A4s are either holding more power than the A6s or builders just seem to know how to build the A4 for now
The A6 doesnt seem to hold as much power.
That's the power answer.
Transmission answer:
I love A6 6l80/ 6l90 transmission once its tuned. Its a PITA to tune because there are so many tables to change, but once Tampa Tuning has your configuration, I love how differant you can make the D and S or M modes to react. Several of the tables in the modes are cross referanced, but at Tampa Tuning, I can make one mode feel like its tuned for your wife, and the other mode its a race transmission.
Tampa Tuning gets requests from all over the country for just the transmission tune package. That's why I listed it priced on the Tampa Tuning website.
Of course, its included in the total street package for $280 and dyno tuned for $430.00 for bolt ons and under vehicles.

LOL, yeah John I believe he's making a joke (at least I hope so LOL) because Audi uses the 'A4' and 'A6' designations (among others) to name some of their models. You should've known this actually, doesn't your wife have an A5 or something?
See, THIS is why I like to utilize the many smilies/icons that are available to us, they can clearly help determine if the poster is joking and/or using sarcasm etc.

I actually met a guy last weekend who went from a A6 cam only LS3 with a 2.73 gear and 3200 stall that made 487rwhp then switched to a A4 and 3.42 gear with 2800 stall and went 11.1 dynoing 480. Not sure of the conditions when the runs were made and of course the tighter converter/less overall gear didn't help with the 60', but was really surprised by dyno numbers being lower as I thought the A4 would have less drivetrain loss. Then again the converter may have been heavier robbing power and the A6 isn't 1:1

Better for what?
The A4 seems to hold together longer for high power use, and with proper axle gearing can do just fine on the drag strip.
For a twisty back road, or road course, the A6 is better because of the paddles and rev-matching (2008 & later) on downshifts.
For driving around town, the A6 will produce slightly better gas mileage and performance. Our 2006 A6 was slightly quicker than our friend's 2005 A4.
Any C6 is a fine car, for most people the A6 is slightly better but the people in our club with A4's have just as much fun as I do!
