I have an 08 without telescoping wheel. I called the dealer, and they said I am no longer under warranty, so this isn't a covered fix (i though i had the 5 year 100k, but apparently not....)
what you need to do is this.... have stored code(s) read with a TechII code reader when you have the message on DIC. if you have the DIC clear it will mean the codes have (i believe) been erased so no point in attempting to read them. based on the codes, correct action can be determined.
though possible its the steering sensor, that error happened mostly on telescoping steering.
the thing to keep in mind is there is ALOT of things that could cause the error.

the recall i dont think your qualified for, see #1... http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...d.php?t=138224
anyway to pull the codes without TechII? I have obd scanners, but I though they only read engine trouble codes. Or would the scanner come up with a different number like a pxxxx even though there is no check engine light

you best bet is get out you phone book, call autoparts stores and local auto repair places in your area, ask if they will read using a TechII for free, most will

If you can find an autoparts store that has a scanner that can read ABS codes you can use that. My local Advanced Auto Parts store has a scanner that reads OBDII and ABS codes but the Autozone Store can only read OBDII codes so I know not every store can provide what you need. ABS codes will be Cxxxx codes. I don't know for sure whether the cheap OBDII/ABS scanners can read the sub codes the Tech II can read which help narrow the problem down.
