Im buying a vette that has headers and heat resistant sparkplug wires, however the wires look awful close to the header. On long trips (10 hrs) were you are driving straight with only gas stops should i get concerned abouy the wires over heating or melting etc . Etc.
Also can someone tell me the purpose of the oil catch can
i recommend getting the spark plug wire sleeves
i bought ARP header headers and MTI wires
noticed they sat very close to each other, so i bought the DEI plug sleeves
fits perfect and now no worries
the catch can is also good to have
helps seperate any oil that may get sucked up in the PCV system
i even put one on my TA, and WOW it works awesome considering the crappy Moroso valve covers i have with the PCV in it
it will help prevent the oil being sucked into the motor, causing possible detonation or increasing your chances of it
I've got ARH headers and MSD Wires with no issues. MSD Wires have an adjustable cap at the spark plug end that allow you to move it away from any header closeness.
Ive never had an issue and I dont have socks. I use magnacore wires and the GM Performance wires on my C5 and C6. Both survive without any issues.

I never had issues either, and probably wouldnt have, but for a few bucks I like the way sleeves look and I dont have to worry about it at all. Just a personal preference, probably not really needed.
