Is your steering wheel dead nuts straight "ZERO" when the car is going straight down a flat level straight road??? If its off to the left or right,, it could cause an issue.

That's an interesting point. I wonder if the system calculates a correction to signal from the steering wheel angle encoder once it's been driven a short distance. Is there any absolute reference in the signal put out by the encoder?

Yes,,,,, The EBTCM does a CENTERING ROUTINE upon key on. When you see the warming up message in the DIC the EBTCM is taking a little longer than normal to complete the centering routine

I'm having the same issue with the "Traction System Active" message described by ASchaffer. I'm the original owner of a 2006 base coupe with stock size tires and no telescoping steering column. It just started happening very recently. Don't know why it wasn't doing that from the start, that's very strange.
