Default P0806 Clutch Position Sensor

Been having some trouble shifting in my 08Z. Not going into gear at high RPM's, and grinding even during normal shifting, usually when cold. Took it to the transmission shop thinking it was the synchro's. They opened up the tranny and said the 2nd and 3rd gear were bad and the synchros checked out good. $2,600 later they rebuilt the whole thing and still having the same problem. I am getting the P0806 Clutch Position Sensor service code. No one seems to know anything about it.

Any advice?

Thank you,
Jason

Take it to a shop who knows something about TR6060s--Amoco or somewhere similar is not going to know wtf to do with it.

For the price you paid, you could have bought a brand new one from the dealer and sold your core for $1000.

There is a potentiometer sensor on the clutch pedal that tells the computer the position of the pedal. It might have gone bad but that's not going to cause your trans issues.

I'm having trouble understanding how the hell the gears could be bad but the synchros good . The synchros are always the first to go. Anyway, is your clutch biting correctly? And are you fully depressing the clutch pedal for every shift? These clutches/trannies need that. And yes, you should have bought a new one. Or get it rebuilt by an expert, like RickT56. Your tranny might have a problem that wasn't fixed . Good luck man.

If I could go back, I definitely would have gone with a different shop. But they came very highly recommended.

I've tried pressing the pedal all the way to the floor, even double clutching and it will still gives an occasional grind. Only in 2nd, 3rd, and once in 4th, never in any other gear has it grinded.

The pedal is extremely stiff. I had my mechanic (has the same exact car as me) drive it and said "wow, you must have a really strong left leg).

Also, I have not had the skip shift eliminated. I may be battling that during normal driving. I planned on having it tuned out once I get a few more bolt-on installed

The skip shift won't do what you are talking about so don't worry about it until you have the other issues resolved. Here are the steps from the Service Manual that you can do to resolve the DTC: Where it says scan tool information you will have to use a high input impedance (10 Meg Ohm) DVM and figure out how you can make contact with the wires going to the connector while the connector is plugged together. That could mean using a small sharp pin to pierce the wire covering, using the pins as test contacts and then using something to seal the small holes afterwards. Don't use an RTV product as they will corrode the wiring. There could be a bunch of reasons why the repair didn't work but that should be taken up with the shop that did the work. Surely, they warranty their work and it must have cost you a pretty penny. I assume the 5 year Powertrain Warranty had expired or you wouldn't have taken the work to them.

Since you say the clutch is extremely stiff did they do any that was clutch related?

Thanks Bill, I'll try that.

The previous owner changed clutches. He used a monster clutch for racing, then switched to a stock clutch before selling the car to me. The shop I had the work done at didn't touch it.

Maybe there was an issue when clutches were being swapped out?
