Default Interior Rattle Fixes?

Guys,

I have a series of rattles all throughout the door panels, dash board, etc. Has anyone put out fixes for such rattles? It's very annoying at only 36k miles.

I recall in the C5 factory service manual there was a section on rattle proofing. I do not recall that section in the C6 service manual.
So you could review that C5 for guidance.

Else the metal clips of the door panel that slid onto the door are notorius to rattle. Some of the white plastic retaining clips may have become loose or broken. Maybe even the door glass guides. Too many possibilities.

The dash, could be the bezel around the HUD, the outside windshield cowl panel, loose bolts and screws in general...too many possibilities.

Yeah...they're everywhere. I try to live with it, but it's quite annoying.

I think common things in the dash are the center speaker and the black plastic piece at the base of the windshield (on the outside of the car).

Only way to mitigate them is to get in there man. And better for you to do it than a dealer, especially if out of warranty (like I suspect you are). Techs are trained to fix mechanical stuff, not rattles. That's why you're better off tackling those yourself. Plus you won't end up with scratched/scuffed/stained interior in the process. Not to mention when techs break tabs and such, they don't tell you and just slap panels back together, usually making matters worse than they were. Consider them a challenge, and success will be sweet . Plenty of DIY instuctions here for all the parts you might need to remove. Good luck.

Track them down one by one, use Loctite when you re-do the fasteners

After installling headers I had a rattle/vibration that was driving me crazy and it wasn't there before header install. Sounded like it was coming from dead center of the dash. I tracked it down to the cover on what I think is the Onstar box to the right of the rearview mirror. Folded a business card up as many times as I could and stuffed in the gap between the cover and molding above it and all is well now!

How do you remove the black plastic trim that runs the length of the roof behind the vanity mirrors and in front of the latches to remove the roof?

That thing is ALWAY rattling. Want to take it off and see whats' going on.

This was a major rattle in our SRT8 charger as well.

I hunt each of the suckers down and work at it until I get it. Tooth picks,pop-sickle sticks, foam rubber, sheet rubber, carpet pieces, double-sided tape,............ I use it all.

and to help get rid of those pops from the roof, I just unlatch and latch the roof when I get in the car, I think it helps relieve the pressure from the expanding and contracting plastics.
