Wow! I am most impressed with the Vmax CNC ported throttle body directly from Vmax Motorsports. Pete Incaudo at Vmax is a super guy to talk to and it's clear, he knows his stuff.
I received my Vmax 2 days after placing the order and it took me all of 10 minutes to install it. Anyone with reasonable skills, a flat blade screwdriver and a 10mm socket wrench could duplicate the feat. Simply disconnect your CAI and a single electrical connector, loosen 4 10mm bolts and slip the old TB out. Note how easily the bolts broke loose...not much torque on them for good reason. The bolts thread into nuts countersunk in the intake manifold, a little too aggressive on the tightening torque and you'll pull them out and that's big trouble. 10 lbs ft is all that's needed. Also, be sure the neoprene gasket, countersunk in the intake manifold, is in place before you install the new TB.
After putting everything back together, startup was exactly as it always has been. No trouble code lights, steady idle RPM and nothing seems different...until you drive it.
Out the drive, down the road, easy throttle input until fluid temps are up to normal and then...WOT! Wow, tip-in is smooth and response instantaneous...feels like we installed a 427 LS7. Eighty+ comes up in 3 seconds, or at least it seems so. I'm anxious to see if the ET time slips confirm the conclusions of my butt dyno. Vmax claims 10 to 15 HP and, as skeptical as I was, it's now easy to believe. I think my LS2 is closer to 12 seconds flat than ever before.. personal best is 12.28 @ 118 thus far.
For what it's worth, on my 6 speed auto Camaro, the results were very similar to this. Even though you could feel a difference on my 6M Camaro, it didn't seem as impressive. Both of the Camaros ran 12.4s@113 with the same mods as my Vette on street tires. How much the Vmax contributed, I'm not sure.
$150 plus $400 core charge seems a very reasonable price to pay for a lot of performance gains. Try one, you won't regret it!
I have been running a Vmax ported TB on my LS2 for about 5 years now and continue to love it. The H.P. claim is exagerated, I think 5 H.P. max is more like it. But that doesn't matter because it's the instant throttle response that really matters and it does a great job of that. I get my H.P. increases from other bolt ons. Incidently, I have run this TB on both stock intake manifold and now a ported FAST 102 manifold and the same great instant response was there for both.
I just got one my self , going to dyno it tomorrow , wont be able to tell too much because i installed a ported fast 90 with it, with no tune to either tb or intake went 12.15 @115.59 compared to 12.21 at 116 so with a new tune for these two items im hopeing to creap into the 11.90s no gears , factory converter, no cam, just bolt ons with some head work from my buddy at hardhead racing, just a real good port job on the heads,

I have something to compare to.. I ran a 12.8 at 111 stock no tune with the CAI on the car... I had a tune after the runs, gained 39hp.and 37tq. so with the new tb ill hit the track again, and hope to hit a dyno day... Im at 349 right now the way it sits....
Cant wait to try out the new TB ...

Dang, dude..that's a great running Vette. Would you mind giving me details on your mods. When I talked to tuners, they tell me the Fast doesn't improve a whole lot HP wise...so I backed off that idea. The tuner I'm talking to says he's seen great improvements in LS2s by porting the OEM intake. I've see there's a number of YouTube videos outlining the process on porting and it doesn't seem too difficult. What's your take on that?

I have a Peak ported TB and intake on the wifes 05
certainly enhanced the car nicely
i didn't go FAST because our intial plan was E-Force, but that has changed (and funds at the time were limited)
for the price, the ported intake is certainly nice
however if you plan to do more, suck it up and go FAST it will pay off
add headers and air intake with a good tune and it wakes the car up nicely
just my thoughts

You talked to some fools then. The FAST is one of the best mods you can do for the LS2.
Thumbs up for Pete... Great guy to deal with, excellent product. We move a ton of his VMax CNC throttle bodies, very easy to sell considering it's a great product for little cost!
Did the dyno today results were 402 horsepower and 402.7 lbs torque, remeber thats with a cai, lg headers, fast 90 intake, cnc tb, and a ported set of 243s and no camshaft . Will head to the track on friday will test the tuned version of the intake and tb install. Looks like i picked up 15hp and 13 tq from my dyno without the fast and the tb. The air was horrible today so tuner says that affected the dyno 90 percent humidity and 70 degrees. 2005 ls2 with A4 tranny
Here are the mods that ive done to my ls2 . Vararam snake cold air intake, LG headers and pipes, Vararam spacer plate, Flowmaster American Thunder Mufflers, Fast 90 ported intake, VMAX cnc throttle body, Ported 243 heads did not shave for more compression just ported intake and exhaust ports. Mike at Thunder Racing in Baton Rouge La did all the tunning. With the Fast intake had to increase fuel supply to several areas , to elimnate lean areas with the increase of air from that intake. Now that its tuned with both items on the car im heading to the track friday nite. Hopeing to take it into the 11.99 range. All this an im still running my Michlen run flats . Best 60 ft so far is 1.893 An im so old school im manually shifting from first to second and then to third. Did not realize that the transmission computer could do that for me Factory Torque Converter, 2.73 gears, Factory camshaft, still in the car. No need to change them in my case im done, now its time just to enjoy........
Im with Floyd on this . your messing with fools. mine picked up 65 rwhp with OBX lt's and ported Fast 102
Yeah, that's my dilemma. There have been posts I've read saying the fast 102 didn't do much for them. I wish I could remember who and where that was posted. However, even the guy I spoke with said the power gains with the Fast intake on an LS2 were hugely better than on the LS3 because of the head design???

I'm saving my bucks now to be able to afford one. I went to Hinson motorsports site to have a look and asked him if he had a dyno sheet on the LSXR 102 with stock head and cam engine...hopefully, he can answer the question definitively. When you installed yours, did you use the stock fuel rails, replace O-rings, etc.? Have you run your car at the strip with your mods?
My car runs consistent high 12.2s @ 118. The speed indicates a pretty good HP power output, I think. My goal is to get to 12.00 or high 11.9s.
Make sure u buy the new model intake it. Every thing will fit dont need fuel rails or anything. Dont buy an older 90 fast you will have to cut the firewall and make spacer plates for your fuel rail and relocate your maf sensor. Just buy the new edition and u should be ok. Going to the track tomorrow nite will let you know how the new mods did. Have previous time slips to check against so should have a good idea what the fast intake picked up on the track........The ls2 is the worst intake that Chevy has made according to my tuner and head ported so dont be afraid to buy a fast ,,,,,,,,, be it new or used. Several used ones for sale here and on craigslist. Might save u some money
OK, not sure if I am tracking you guys correctly, but there are actual HP gains from just the throttle body without any porting/stock manifold?
There are dyno YouTube videos showing a fairly impressive improvement in HP and TQ on the same vehicle, same day, same conditions dyno pull. Google it.
Vmax Motorsports points to 3 or 4 Corvette magazine articles where the install was done with a dyno run before and after showing a net gain of 7 peak HP. Another I read claimed 10. Other claims are 7 to 15 or so. I found it described at: http://www.corvettefever.com/techart...y/viewall.html I can only quantify the results by the driving impressions on my C6 which feel like it confirms a good HP increase.
best pass on friday night was 11.99 at 117.70 with 60ft time of 1.842, not too bad for my combo and im as happy as can be ..I was told that no way i could run elevens with what i have.....just goes to show u what the right combo can do. Factory converter, Factory camshaft, and 2.73 factory gears. Sometimes u just have to do all the research your self and ingnore all the smoke and mirrors that vendors can put up. And see what other guys are doing with sucess and take what they do and what knowledge u have an add those together it worked for me................... it can work for u too

Yeah, I read the entire thread and it was super informative. It seems that most had head and cam mods and I don't intend (at this point) in doing that. I was curious if the Fast 102 would be worth it on my car with the mods in my signature and no cam or head mods.
I like doing mods myself and the Fast is one I'm sure I can do and if it makes 18HP and 18-20 torque, that would be great. I currently have a JRE email tune, but would do a full dyno tune once I have it where I want it. My goal is to run 12 flat in the quarter or high 11s and that would suit me just fine. My best to date with the existing mods is 12.298@118.
