I've been told these are both LS7 rockers. Who can tell me why one has the reinforcing along the bottom of the trunnion bore and the other does not? Chevy dealer couldn't help me!! WTF. I know you guys can answer this one easy.

Hey MeanJoe,
I pulled a broken stock rocker off of my 2008 Z that looked like the one you have without the extra metal "tabs". I ordered one new stock rocker to replace the broken one (just so I could move the car around, on to a trailer, etc. while I figured out what the heck to do ...), AND when the stock replacement came it looked like the one you have that does have the beefed-up metal tabs.
So, I just figured that GM made an upgrade to the piece by adding some additional metal. I was told it was still a LS7 rocker with 1:8 ratio. Seems to be working fine, but soon they are all coming out to get the CHE treatment !

your top picture is the offset intake valve rocker arm . your bottom picture is the exhaust valve rocker arm. the intake is offset to center it on the larger intake valve. they are not interchangeable between intake and exhaust

because of the offset the finger can not be located center of the rocker and puts a side load on it if that helps
well, i must confess it was a very difficult question to answer. After spending 2+ hours researching...
the answer is..........
you take a random picture off one site and a random picture off anoter site and you get a random difference,.
thats the difference. do i win a prize????????????????
Well Chevy Dave......
The answer is no prize for you.
The question was... Why are these two rockers different?
The one on the left in the mans left hand has extra material on both sides of the trunnion bore. Rocker on the right side, the one with no hand on it, has no extra material around the trunnion bore.
Today we installed my Comp Cams trunnion kit. My good friend that helped me has a 1998 C5, he grabed one of the rockers that came on it stock and it is just like the rocker in the mans left hand on my post. My car is a much newer ZO6 and has rockers just like the the picture on the right side of my post with no hand. SO THE PRIZE GOES TO ALL WHO POSTED, DESIGN CHANGE!! Thanks to all of you that tried to help me with this one. Didn't think it would be this hard to figure out. The Comp Cams kit went in well, I see where there could be a lot of mistakes made if your not careful. I've put on about 70 miles already and motor is much quieter now.
in that case i do apologize. its just that when you show what appears to be an exhaust and an intake and from two different (random) web sites, its sorta hard to research,
i did search all GM documents and actually found no reference to a design change. But, i will not only take your word for it.,
