Default LS7 Map Sensor Replacement

07Z06 just purchased and will finally drive it for the first time today; however, I was told the MAP sensor was bad. The car has 13k and I was told it runs fine.

Does anyone have any pointers for checking before I take the intake off? Does anyone have the GM procedure for this task?

Not sure who told you, but the check engine light should be illuminated. Check the codes yourself before changing anything. Also, if the code shows, check connections before replacing anything.

My dad has it and said the comp. shows map. The car has a MTI stage 2 cam, ported heads and tune. Other than that, it has a borla catback. I heard the sensor was under the intake and took roughly 4hrs.
My flight comes in at night and I will go right to work. Also, the cel is on.

Nope, it's on top for the LS3, too. Red thing in pic below, although yours will be black.

okay, just changed the map but as we were working on it the "real" problem presented itself; dropped valve

You say "dropped valve".

Did you mean broken valve, or did the valve actually drop?

EDIT: Never mind, I saw your other thread. The amount of these valves breaking are becoming ridiculous.

yeah, I just came back from Afg. and the car was running "rough" right before I got home; I still have yet to drive it...
My dad and I were troubleshooting what we thought was the "intermittent" CEL from the MAP b/c that's what the guy said was wrong when I had my dad pick it up. I told my dad to beat on it a little and he got it up to 135 before buying it and driving it back from AR to AZ. The car made it back with zero problems and the next day, my dad didn't even make it a block. He is 67 and doesn't beat on cars and always drives decent as well as warms up vehicles before driving.

Fortunately, he had a Suburban that he was able to sell me and I just picked up a trailer yesterday. I wanted to "drive" the car from AZ to GA where I live but I just didn't think it would be on a trailer. I may decide to post up a few status's as I drive across hwy 10 to see if anyone wants to meet up along the way.
