My theory was that cupping would create ridges that are somewhat "uni-directional." When slowing down without braking, these ridges would be more in play with the tire bringing the car down in speed rather than accelerating or maintaining a constaint speed.
A wild *** guess on my part!
When I have experinced cupping on my motorcycle tires, I pick up more noise and a slight vibration in corners. Hence, my theory on car tires.
Did you start noticing it all of a sudden, or after hitting a large pothole or something? Or did you let somebody drive your car, like a valet, etc? Anyway, if all your lugnuts are torqued properly, and your tires are inflated properly and not unevenly worn, and doesn't happen when braking, it has to be suspension/steering related. Could be the alignment, a bad bushing, a loose nut, etc. You'll need somebody who knows what he's doing to drive the car and diagnose the issue. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but the hard part is to find out what exactly is causing it. Good luck.
4,300 miles G/S auto. Slight vibration only when slowing down (without applying brakes) from speeds over 50 mph, anyone have a similar problem?
What happens when you do apply light braking? Does it get more pronounced or does the vibration lessen? If it lessens that would signal more of a tire only issue (check tread, sidewalls and pressure). If it gets worse, that could point to more of a wheel or alignment type issue.

I get a vibration acelerating/crusing starting at about 55-60 then stops. It is not a steady vibration as it happens as almost a cycle? Then back at around 80....
I my experience, that was my culprit…I had the wheels road force balanced using a hunter machine and all was well. I know there could be a multitude of things, but could be a good place to start. Idk how old your tires are or mileage
No problem. Hope that’s it. Also, your tires are getting close to being very old…could play into it. I had that issue as well when I bought mine…tires were ‘new’ but date code was 10 years old
Hey there BINGO they were out of balance. I took it to my usual tire shop they pulled all the weights off and re-balanced all 4 $20 the most inexpensive car fix ever!!!
