First a little about my car and air tempature. 2007 C6 A&A kit and LTH...Outside air temp in the 50s .
This past Sunday I got stuck in traffic on my way to Atco.. While creeping along (coolant temps 190) I started hearing a brake squeal which I thought was the van beside me. About 5 minutes later I noticed my car was stopping really fast from 10-15 mph without using the brakes.. Once to a full stop my car would not move. After double checking to make sure I did not engage the parking brake or activate the LL . I flipped the LL switch off and on several times and it was not clicking like it should.. I then realized what was wrong I put my 4 ways on popped the hood and grabbed 2 water bottles out of my cooler... I poured both bottles on the solenoid and heard it release.. I lowered the hood keeping it unlatched to let some heat escape so I could continue creeping along. Once out of the traffic jam I pulled over and closed the hood and continued on my way..
If you look at where the solenoid is in relation to the headers you can see how this could happen. Other than having to modify the mounting bracket(the holes on mine were wrong from RSD) I have had zero issues with the LL. I would suggest anyone who has this LL and that regularly drives in heavy traffic look into some sort of heat shielding to help this from happening to them.
Sorry to hear that. I had issues with the early solenoid, and Steve@RSD replaced it at no cost. I know he'll take care of you when he gets back from vacation - he's a stand up guy.
The bracket that came with the line lock hung it "out" over the frame rail so the exhaust could bake it like in Devilish34's pic above. I made a new aluminum bracket that moved the assembly in over the frame rail to protect it from the rising exhaust heat and keeps it totally out of the way.
Here is a link to my install, I used a remote fob ($15) from amazon to control it so no wires running into cabin.
PS: The DIC codes that are set do not affect the performance, etc. and are cleared when the car is re-started after being shut down.
