Just finished up a lighting refresh. The goals were:
1) Increase useable light on the road (rather than simply glare in oncoming driver's eyes) as much as possible.
2) Have all front lights the same color.
The factory hi and lo beam projectors were replaced with Sharp Light Innovations' new "Lux King" LED projectors. New LED bulbs were installed in the DRL/turn signals and the fog lights. Then new lenses from RL Sebring finished it off.
I'm pleased with the results. Lots of useable light in a nice 5500K pure white.

Those look pretty good. When we are no longer in a social distancing situation, I'd like to see those in person if possible. Maybe we could even get our cars out to the same place at night and take some pictures of stock light output vs the new ones you have.

Good idea.
In the meantime, contact Sharp Light Innovations for some data on light output of different headlights. They did a series of tests with light meters measuring the light received at different distances, elevations, and angles off center comparing stock headlights vs the Lux Kings vs an aftermarket replacement headlight.
The bulbs and the reflectors go in from the back .
Are you sure? I replaced my bulbs today and it didn’t help so I have this issue. But I see no way to get the reflector out from the back unless I’m missing something...
I was lucky and found an individual selling 2 low beam reflectors. Haven’t seen any since. People have been talking about this dim headlight problem for years. You can try all the different type of bulbs out there but with out reflectors with a good I believe it’s silver plated your not going to get original factory performance. Heat from the bulbs burns off the reflective material.
Thanks for the information and the congrats. The bulbs I purchased are 6000k and they both work but they just don't seem very bright at all. I honestly don't feel confident drving the car at night because I cant see very far ahead of me. I live in PA and in a rural area where there are deer and others crossing the road. The light that is output barely makes the road visible. The lens are not tinted (they appear clear to me). My high beams are most definetely brighter then the HID's, I can see with the high beams on or the fogs on. The car has a clear history and there is nothing else wrong with the car that I am aware of. It is a dream car for me and I really enjoy driving it.
What are the chances of both ballasts failing? If they are on their way out, do they just fail and no longer work or do they gradually produce less and less power to the bulbs? Both bulbs appears equal in light output and brightness. This doesn't make any sense to me?
I bought the 2007 corvette convertable. I also didnt see the road very well. I put in new led headlights, high beam, turn signal and led fog lights as well. With the headlights on at night, I couldn't see the road at all. High beams were ok, but mostly I used fog lights and didn't go too far. I changed the clear lens on my headlight housing and while I had them apart, I noticed a small plate going across the front of the headlight. I mentioned it to a friend and was told the headlight reflects off it and back to then shine out fron the crome piece behind it. I put them back together and still the headlights didn't work very well. So I went for the morimoto replacement housing ($1,500) and after putting them in, instant success. They are bright and I can see much farther and with the high beams, the whole road is lit up. I read so many bad reviews on the stock headlights, so I went for the good ones, not to spare expense and not get a quality light that would last for a long time and also improve the look of my car. In replacing the clear lens of my stock headlights, I already had wisdom about how to remove the headlights from the car and installed the new ones in about 3 hours. Not hard at all and you don't need to remove the front bumper cover completely if you have a helping hand to help remove and replace the new housing just to help lift the fender so you can maneuver lights out and in. Not a hard job at all. One recommendation is to buy a couple sets of clips for front bumper cover to attach to end of fender before starting. I had one missing and the other broke when I was taking it off, but no worried, I had new ones and replaced them with no trouble. Good luck and I hope this helped.
