Default Battery replacement on 2010

I have had my 2010 for three years now when I bought it new from the dealer. I would like to know when the battery should be replaced to be on the safe side. My 2002 C5 went through a battery every two years like clockwork.

If it's never been fully discharged and you keep it on a tender when necessary I'd say 4 to 5 years for safety. Kind of hard to give an exact lifetime. It's best to get it load tested once or twice a year - that should give you an idea of when it's starting to go. Mine load tested at 50% after 6 years, at which time I replaced it.

Our C6 is a DD, getting about 15-20k miles per year. I replace the battery every 3 years, hoping to avoid the "stranded" story. So far, so good.

If I go 4 years instead of 3, that saves me about $10/year. Not worth it to me.

John's idea of getting it load tested and replacing at a certain percentage (I think I'd go for 75%), sounds like a good plan also.

It's always a good idea to replace you first battery early. No factory ever fully charges the batteries before installation, and that step alone significantly increases battery life. Plus most new cars get cranked a lot by the factories, dealerships, etc., without ever recharging them. And what kills batteries is a discharged state, when they sulfate. Mine was dead at least once for sure, since windows weren't indexed when I got the car. I'll also change it at the 3-yr mark... if I keep the car that long. But my next battery will probably last me 5 years the way I take care of them: fully-charge before installation, and charged every week thereafter. And yes, will use the OEM Delco since there's no identical replacement, and don't feel like adapting one, when the Delco is good, at least when in the trunk, like my car.

When load testing I was informed to fully charge the battery then load test it and if it reads under 9 volts when loaded the battery should be replaced. Is this the correct procedure?
