Looking for a 17" wheel
I've been using that size since I got the car...& thats whats on it now.. I'm supposed to bring it to Cartek on Fri for some fine tuning and a dyno pull.. but not sure if the weather will cooperate.. if its bad I'll bring it next week..I already have 250 miles on the new motor but have
NOT go FULL THROTTLE yet.. it just starts to spin th MT .. but I expected that with the COLD roads.. etc...
I'm getting "old"
and do NOT want to change tires.. and with the MT or the new Nitto (I forgot the name) NOT the 555 I "just might " get by with the 18' because of my 2800 converter, & 3.15 gears.. If I get lucky and the 18" 305 MT will hold, I'll leave it there.. if I have to go to a 17" it will HAVE to be a MT or Nitto anything except Hoosier as they ARE probably the best hooking tire, but last the least time.. & I really don't like driving 100 miles on Hoosier'sI'll go to the web site that either you or dennis, or Marc LS1LT1 posted.. bottom line is I need a tire I can use all season without changing them.. I have bad arthritis in my hands, & had two fractured disc's in my back back when I was a Cop..
So I need a set up that won't require retuining....I can't be depending on people always helping me change tires at the track.. & now with the roll bar I doubt I can fit two tires in the car..I don't like driving 100 miles with a 17" or 18 tire in the passengers seat...

I stopped changing tires at the track (often in the rain) years ago. I just drive on my Mickeys.
I agree you don't want to try to street drive Hoosiers - they are pure slicks and any puddle will send you sideways. And they will wear out in no time. Mickeys at least have siping - the new second generation Mickeys have great siping, but the 275/40/17's are the old tread and have less siping. In my experience the older Mickeys are ok for street driving until they get down to the wear bars which isn't too long with street driving. They'll have track life left but once at the bars you have to slow way down for any water on the road. The new version Mickeys are a lot better in the rain in my experience. I've had both. But they don't make the 275/40/17 with the new tread pattern.
