Default Engine oil-cooler lines.

Does anyone know for sure which one of the stock engine oil-cooler line lines is the feed to the in radiator oil-cooler and which is the return line? You can describe them as top and bottom at the radiator or front and back at the oil filter. Please help if your sure. Thanks

On the OEM Z51 cooler lines the lower radiator inlet matches the front port of the bolt-on plate. This should be the outlet from the engine and inlet to the radiator oil cooler.

I did not think that you could install them backwards.

You can with aftermarket parts but don't know that that is the case here.

Thanks! I bought a Z07 radiator and a Z06 cooler, so I just unbolted the Z51 cooler and lines and replaced them with factory Z06 lines. The Z07 radiator bolted right in and the trans cooler likes hooked right up.

I want to hook up an auxiliary oil cooler as well as the oil cooler in the Z 51 radiator. I want to run the hot oil from the engine to the radiator and then out to the auxiliary oil cooler than back to the engine. That is why I need to know which line is which.

The advice I received on this from Tom DeWitt was to run to the external radiator first and then to the main. The idea is to gain the most cooling first before bringing up temp in a radiator that maybe handling water, oil, and trans fluid -- what I have now.

Plus, when cold, this allows the main radiator to increase the oil temp before returning to the motor. I plan to also add an external trans cooler plumbed the same way.

Dan,

Have you identified any external coolers for engine and trans? I've been considering the Z07 engine oil cooler but haven't come up with a good external trans cooler location and I don't want to take out the fog lights or cut up the car trying to fit one. I've been also thinking of dual Setrab's (engine/transmission oil) in front where the engine oil cooler would go but haven't measured yet.

I also considered coolers in the fog light openings but decided not to go that way as I use the lights at times here.

Since then, I've looked at many coolers and considered how much additional cooling I need as I already have a DeWitts with the EOC and TOC. But it can't handle the load of having three heat-pumps feeding it on a hot day and over time everything equalizes and becomes too hot.

I am going to try a cheap solution and plan to place a pair of Flex-a-lite 4109s stacked horizontally in the opening between the lower air dam and the grill opening feeding the radiator. I have an additional obstruction with my Vararam intake extending into the grill. The 4109s are each rated 9,000 GVW and are 2 1/2" x 20" x 3/4" so fit the opening well and are only $47.
