Default 2008 c6 needs more grip!!

I just recently bought my c6, i need to find out what size tires i can put on the rear. The dealership put 285/35/19s on there and they don't stand a chance, my car has a supercharger, cam, exhaust etc. 614 hp, so if someone could help me out on what size i can fit back there on the 19'' rim i would appreciate it! also it is not a z06 just a base c6

if you drop down to 18 inch rear the Mickey Thompsons Street radial II 305/35R18 works well.

Nitto NT05R is pretty good for me. Not sure if it's available in your size.

I was also wondering if they would work.I also have a Super Charged 2008 and the GoodYear tires just won't hold it,and I don't think any other brand of street tire will.
What is the best Drag Radial in a 19" rim size for these cars that is streetable?Has anyone tried the Drag Radial(used to be call Cheater Slicks) with just the 2 lines around them on the street?
I have been a Drag Racer for quite a few years and they make a Drag tire for just about every car racing, and as many of these Hi-Powered Vettes as they are surely someone makes a tire for them.

The 345/30R19 is the way to go. I would guess you need at least a 11.5 wide rim. The 305/35R19 is taller then the 345/30R19, so that might cause issues with the ah sc.

Some of the guys here run a 305 on your wheel and they say no problems. 345 will be way to large.

Unless you're getting race tires, you're SoL.
I had the exact same setup at the exact same rwhp number, and could never get it to hook solid on any street tire.

I'm buying new tires this weekend. While I'd LOVE a set of MT's or Nittos, I daily drive mine, so I'm going for the Michelin PSS's in a 295 width. The currently best rated street tire on the market with a +1 on width.
Do NOT buy drag radials if you do ANY driving in the wet. Not saying you'd spin off and crash, but just because you can doesn't mean you should.

btw...general rule of thumb I learned a long time ago is that you can plus size the width by no more than 1" safely. So for a 285 rim, you can use a 295 tire. There ARE guys that have stuffed a 305 on a 285 with little issue, but it's just not a good idea.

currently I'm at 560 to the wheel and I was running the MT 305/35R18 on a c5z rim. It seems that I had no issue with wheel spin on the street unless I gunned it at a light in cold weather with sand on the streets. Lol

How far off is your speedo with a smaller diameter tire?

the stickiest street tires in factory sizing:

C6 Base size 245/285: bridgestone re11, or pirelli trofeo r

C6 Z06 size 275/325 (using the right wheels): bridgestone re11, or goodyear g2

C6 Zr1 size 285/335 (not sure if any rim will make these clear one a base car): michelin pilot sport cup rf

Hopefully the pilot sport cup 2s in c6zr1/ c7z06 sizing will be released some time later this year to give even more options

The OP is looking for traction that those tires can't perform at.

My speedo is not that much off. If I could do it over, I would do the a 10.5 rim with at least a 65 mm offset. The c5z rim with 54 mm offset sticks out a little.

Probably the tire that would hold 600+ hp and have the longest life is a MT DR in a 315/30x17 size on a 9.5 to 11 wheel, assuming you have wide body fenders. Otherwise stick with a 275/40x17 on a 9.5 wheel. It's not a highway tire or any good in cold or wet, but if you need traction on a very regular basis, no everyday street tire will do.

If you willing to run a 27.5 inch rear, get the 295/45R17 MT. You will need at least a 255/50R18 front, if not a 265/40R18 front to get it within the 1-1.5 inch difference.

Ditto, with street tires (even super cups). There is only so much that any tire can stick until you get enough down force to make them stick better.

So on that note, remap the Torque management tables instead to limit the amount of power that is put through the drive line to get the car to hook and stay hooked through the gears instead.

Top fuel'ers do the same trick, but instead of mapping through a TM system, then allow clutch slip instead (read don't think that you want to have to replace the clutch every run, so the TM method will work a lot better for you).

Default 305/35/19 well under 1" wider

you wont need to stuff a 305/35/19 tire on the car.it is less than an inch wider than the stock 285 and works perfectly for me.with filmjays reasoning your good to go.tire is 3/8's of an inch wider on each side of rim
