Default fast intake...

leave as is or port it? my 05 a4 is strictly a street car looking for hp and torque gains. have full slp exhaust, ported throttle body and vararam. at this stage not looking to go with a cam. I will be installing the intake in about 2 weeks unless I send it out to be ported. also looking for recommended porters incase I go that route.
thanks

Which FAST are you thinking of using? The FAST 92 or 102?

I do both and both pick up some nice gains. A back to back test on a unported FAST 92 to ported 92, the car picked up 20rwhp / 13rwhp.

The 102's I've done have done other mods such as 102 TB, headers cams, so I cannot give a clear cut gain from just a ported intake.

Here is the difference between a unported 92 and ported 92.

IMO I didn't see it's important since your not going to cam the car yet, finally it's back to you chose what ever you want.

it's a 102 and I already have it..just wondering if a good port job would give noticeable results at this stage without a cam.
thanks

Save the money the fast have plenty of issues with gaps and its a crap shoot to get a good one or not. There are plenty of issues list here on the forum. Go with a ported stock you can get it done for less then half of what a fast cost and numbers are with in the same range of a non ported fast 102. I gained almost 22 rwhp for a stock ported and ported throttle body. Not worth it to me to show lsx 102 under my hood. I rather keep the money for something else like tuning.

Nice!

I studied "Porting" jobs by Corry Harris, Spin and Tony Mamo before I did my own 102 as well as TB. 102 incorporated lesson learned from the 92 and without the problematic graft in the rear for use. TB has no real HP gain but just nice to removed the two cast in lumps at the 4 and 8 o'clock position, then mirror polished both the inlet/out side simply made me feel better.

Not difficult, well worth the effort.
