Default Blown headgasget

A mechanical error caused the valve in the exhaust to remain fully closed when I went out on a lap on the track. This caused misfire when the car was on high rpms. The car also ran high on temp after that.
I found the error with the exhaust and though the high temp was from that. Let the car cool down, added one lite of water (1/4 gallon I would guess that equals).

Ran it a bit more and it worked great, no engine lamp but after a few laps the temp rose again, water was missing again. I had to drive it on and off the tow truck and it made a lot of white smoke at that point. This was many hours later when it was cooled down.

Going to take the heads of to see the damage. New gaskets and check so that the heads are straight. This is no big deal.

But how about the oilsystem? Yesterday the oil seem pretty normal but today I was thin, as some water was in it. Maybe it has passed cylinder during the night and added to the oil.

Will it be enough to empty the oil and carefully check for traces of metal (with a magnet) and the replace filter, flush the engine with some new oil and then let it idle for a while and change and check the oil once more. If there is no trace of metal in it I would guess crankshaft etc is OK. Oil pressure at all times have been good.

Aside from tearing the engine down to see the bearings there is no way to know. A blown headgasket is a common car issue. I'd drain it as much as possible. Put in new oil, run it at idle for 20 min then change agin.
