From someone who owned a 05' regular and then a 07' Z51, you def feel a difference. I would do a lot of pulls against my friend with an 01' C5Z and he would pull on me with the regular but not the 07'. I would highly recommend not getting the 05' because the rear diff was under-engineered and the whole thing will crack under heavy load. So if you are DDing, then you are fine. But Dragging will kill it.

The point is that it is a 4 speed auto, not the 6 speed that came in the 2006 and newer cars. If you bought one in new 2005, you did not know about the 2006 changes, but now we know the drawbacks of each year and if I was buying used, I would get 2008 or newer.

Thanks for the reply I still will take the 05 keep it for 2/3 yrs , yes I will buy it used it is a third car for fun.
On my next big birthday coming up my wife will probably give me the ok for a C-7 and she will buy it outright.
Either new or used is no big deal having one is the answer.
