Default 2011 G.S. lowered?

I think the previous owner might have lowered the front a little. Is the a way to tell by wheel well opening? To raise it a little do I turn the bolt clockwise or counter clockwise?
What should be the correct height and where is the correct place to measure?

Counter rotation lowers the car (raises the bolt in the spring) and vice-verse..........as your turning it from the top of the stud and not the head as you would a normal bolt. I lowered mine all the way on stock bolts and it sits at 26" at the center top of the wheel well.

I want to caution you as not to turn the bolt without jacking the spring. It can (and sometimes does) strip the threads.

I placed a floor jack under the end of the spring and lifted enough to get the weight off then ran the bolts all the way up until they were seated.

BTW! You may need several road tests and adjustments to get your desired ride as the suspension needs to set after each adjustment.

I have a question: do you think that your GS is lowered because the front end scrapes when going in and out of driveways, etc.? My '11GS has not been lowered and it's scraped since the day I drove away from the dealership (and scraped it going out of the lot!).

Thanks guys. I put it along side a 2010 and another 2011, and I am about 1/2 " lower at the splitter. I will check it at the wheel well also. And it does scrape on the driveway. My neighbors all cringe when I back out.
I think they are just jealous. Thanks for your help

I would just get used to driving it... you will eventually learn how to avoid it.

Lot of threads about this, try the search function.

Correct way is using a GM tool under the car using the control arms BUT most use the center fender well through axle to ground, or the finger count between tire and fender lip.

I am at two fingers and used to be a comfortable three and a half.

Lots of measurement numbers if you do a search.

The rake should be present to, in the area of 1 inch or more.

My 13 GS scrapes all of the time. I am going to buy a new splitter as a replacement when the original one wears off. I have driven it over 9,000 miles and my wife still cringes every time it happens.

If you live on the coast of Oregon or Washington, they build steep driveways and entrances
to parking lots. I have had many vettes in my years (18 Vettes), I guess I will either get used to it or raise it a little.
Thanks

Yep!

Everytime I pull in (or out) of my driveway it appears as if I'm going to take out my mail box........very little scrape though.

Starting in 2010, GM listed specs for wheel well to pavement heights. I don't have them handy but they are a lot easier to use than the goofy GM tool (which I have).

Each turn will change the wheel well height by about 1/8", after settling. Decide how much change you want, calculate the turns, do it, and drive for at least 200 miles before checking and then getting a wheel alignment.

Even stock, the rides heights are all over the place on "identical" cars, and GM has changed the specs at least twice.

I've done a lot of work on this, and decided that it's like measuring with a micrometer, marking with a piece of chalk, and cutting with an axe.

Pick something that looks right when compared to other cars, make sure the "rake" is about 1 1/4" to 1 3/8", and that's good enough for normal use.

The height of my air dam WITHOUT me in the car. Less than 2" at the very front of it. It will drag a 2x4 laid flat!
