Default Side Pipes

Is the C6 Corvette a side pipe car? In other words can we put side pipes on our cars kinda like the 70's Corvettes?

I think the main problem you'd get with mounting side pipes on a C6 is that it will scrape on just about everything. A stock C6 is low enough as it is and already scrapes on high speed bumps so you can imagine what happens with a set of side pipes on it. Besides, I don't think it'd be functional as the side exhaust will have to be welded up to the stock exhaust system. There's a second set of cats on late model Corvettes and you'd have to have a couple of "U" bends welded to the factory system in order to mate it up to the side pipes.

I only had 1 set of stock cats right up alongside the engine.

Thanx for the replies. I was watching some car show on TV and the guy said that most modern day Corvettes were considered side pipe cars. I was just wondering about the feasibility of this project.
