I'm upgrading my 05 to the newer differential found in an 07. Could anybody who has done this chime in with the parts I require to do the swap. I'm aware there are a few additional bits required as well as the diff.
Also, if anybody has a link to a DIY that would be awesome.
This is the 06+ part number Tailshaft extension housing for T56s:19132778
You can't use the tailshaft housings from 06 or 07 C6Z T56s because Z06 T56s have a 1 piece cluster/counter shaft while base models have a 2 piece countershafst. I was told by Jeremy at rpm transmisions that my 05 Z51 T56 has a 2 piece cluster/counter shaft.
After you switch out the reverse idler gear, output shaft bearing and counter/cluster shaft bearing you're good to go.
As you have said, about you did the clutch previously, this is not anymore complicated, like you have to machine make precision parts - it is just another R&R job.
