Default HP Rating

This article states that the HP rating of the Corvette given (mine is NPP so 436 hp) is RWHP. I assumed the rating was given at crank and I was maybe 380 RWHP, but the article has me wondering if my 436 is RWHP.

What is the RWHP of a stocker LS3 with NPP?

436 hp is flywheel hp. There is around 12% or so driveline loss of hp to the wheels

Yeah manufacturers always quote crank HP. But when you're on a Chassis Dyno its WHP. I've had people at the shop confused when they run their stock car and it makes less than what is quoted from the factory then they undersnd when I explain its crank HP

Manual trans percentage for lose in drive line at around 12%, and you loose a little more HP at the wheels with auto trans/torque converter (higher percentage lose).

Plus I believe there is a 2% +- at the rated hp number. So for the GM 430 number it could be
438.6 or 421.4 or any number in between.

It would be interesting to see what the standard deviation is and a bell curve.

A 12% loss is darned efficient. We figure that in bikes which have much simpler / shorter drivelines.

Sure, I know there must be sample variances. Even if these were handbuilt they'd show a 2% or so variance.

Instead of percentages use a fixed number. The numbers below seem to work for the C6 variations of the LS motors. SAE corrected Dynojet.

50 to 60 HP loss for manual transmission.
60 to 70 HP loss for auto transmission.

It doesn't take a higher percentage of power to run the same driveline, same driveline, same power used.
