First, can't believe just how quiet these tires are. People are not kidding when they speak about how quiet these tires are. And mine are ZP's!!!

Second: Turns that at 70-80 mph always gave me the feeling of 'being on the edge', I now was taking in excess of 100 mph, with no sense of control loss. (For you readers in Sacramento area of Northern California, I am speaking of the series of turns on I-80, West bound between Auburn and Roseville , where the radar warning slows everyone down to, I think, 40MPH??, for the turn [s] ) Just sailed through that..loved it!

Didn't want to push it any harder..would really like to find a giant parking lot to act as a skid pad to see just how much of a warning these tires would give me before the break loose.

I just wonder why it took me so long to put a set of these on the car!!
I think your noise difference may be that you have super sport ZPs Vs the PS2 ZPs that I have.

One thing you should think about. Tires just don't break away. As you reach the adhesion point for a certain radius turn at a certain speed the car just moves to a wider radius it doesn't go spinning off the road. For example, if you can hold the car at a minimum 200 ft radius at a certain speed and increase the speed by 1 mph the radius will change to 201 ft. However, if you as a driver do something to unbalance the car like lifting your foot off the throttle or adding a lot more throttle the car will shift weight from back to front or front to back causing the friction circles of each tire to change accordingly with the weight transfer and could drastically reduce the grip of an individual or more than one tire. That is how you get spins and wild rides.

Bill...appreciate the advice. In my younger years (until the war department put her foot down after close friends were killed) I raced everything from SCCA A prods, C Prods, to open wheel cars to Formula 2's. (B's)

We used to have skid pad out at Stead, with water and all, but I think it is shut down. To bad, would like to have played here a bit.

Even my wife noticed how quiet they were. With the Goodyear's, I had to have the radio up past 80% to hear it over all the noise, now it's only at 35-40% and sometimes that is too loud! Yup...I love these tires.

We just got back from Mr. Bill's Celebration of Life. (Not a dry eye in the house. My wife and daughter were bawling their eyes out. It was everything I could do to keep a grip on, until Mr. Bill's son, Kris, started bawling, then it was too much for me.) My daughter was there with her husband and my grandson number 5. Mr. Bill, his children, and mine, were close. I was there when his 2 were born, and we were raising hell when my 2 were born. They all sorta grew up together.

When by children learned to drive, I taught them how to sense a developing spin, and how to counteract (drive out of a spin) Even did on snow and ice. Up here in the mountains, where snow and ice (Yeah, right...Cotten' pickin' Easterners have stolen it all!), Spin recover is an absolute, IMNSHO.

Anywho..again..thanks for the advice. Always good to review all options, specially when getting used to new tires!

Here in Maryland, cars/trucks stopped on the shoulder of the highways are, for some unknown reason, like magnets that attract distracted drivers. There have been way too many accidents where motorists have been seriously injured or killed after being rear-ended or side-swiped by some idiot driver not paying attention. Therefore, I will always choose the run flat option for my and my wife's Corvettes. It's just not worth the risk.

PS: Ever see what a flatbed tow truck can do to the front bumper/chin spoiler of a C6 Z06 or GS when it hoists the car onto the bed with those metal cables? It's not pretty. Just my $.02.

You are s-o-o-o-o right....Not pretty, at all!

Early on in my ownership of my C6 Base, I had a multitude of electrical issues. The car would go dead..Couldn't get it out of Park, couldn't open the doors (Had to use the manual release, etc. Turns out the linked computers/relays in the car were losing its initial ground in the right door window computer/relay. When that was replaced, never had another problem.

In any case, 1 time when this happened, the tow company dragged it onto the flat bed. When it got to the dealer, the tow driver simply raised the bed to let the car 'slide' off. As the front wheels left the edge of the bed, the whole car slammed down and the front bumper/chin spoiler, hit the edge of the flat bed, smashing it to pieces. This was witnessed by several people at the dealership. The whole front bumper assembly, and radiator mount assembly had to be replaced, to the tune of several 1000 dollars. I turned the bill into the tow company, for reimbursement, and they had the ***** to tell me that the damage was already there and and I should take a hike and file a claim with my insurance company.

On the advice of my neighbor, who is an attorney, I took them to small claims court. The tow company's representative spend 20 minutes explaining to the judge that the damage was already there. I had the witnesses there with me in court, one of whom was the Corvette technician who works on my car. They testified what they had seen and the Technician testified He had never seen any damage to the front end of the car, even 3 weeks prior when he did an LOF on the vehicle.

It took the judge 5 seconds to rule in my favor, and then he asked if I had to rent a car while mine was being repaired. I told him yes, but my insurance took care of that. He asked how much it was and asked the technician about how much he though the car's value had been reduced by the drop off the flat bed. The judge added those figures into what he awarded me, much to my surprise! (Obviously, he didn't care for tow companies very much! )

In the end, the tow company had to shell out over $5000 to me. And..this is the part I love, he held the tow company in Contempt for perjuring the information given to the court. The owner/dispatcher of the company got to spend 30 days in jail and was fined 15,000 bucks.

GAWD, I loved that! There is justice..sometimes!

Living in Nevada, where we have miles and miles of open roads, that allow me to 'follow' the speed limit, I am nervous about not having a spare, hence seriously considering the ZP (Zero Pressure) version of he famed Pilot Sport.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
I replaced my original goodyears at 8000 miles with Michelin pilot sport ZP's. The noise reduction was DRAMATIC and it handles great. No regrets although it was expensive.
